The yellow wagtail is a slender bird with a fifteen to sixteen-centimeter long tail. Colors vary among subspecies, often being olive and yellow in males and paler, grayer or greenish colors in females.
While the yellow wagtail lives primarily in Europe and Asia, it does migrate to the Middle East and Africa during winter, making a nest in open country near a source of water, where it lays four to eight eggs. It emits a high-pitched call known as a jeet.
