Wildebeests live in large herds consisting of males, females and their young. They are located in the plains and savannas of eastern Africa and can be migratory or seditary, either staying in one place or migrating, mostly in response to the lack of water in the dry season. When the rainy season begins, the wildebeests will return to their old habitat. Herds are often seen with zebra herds, which helps them easily locate predators.
Wildebeests are members of the antelope family. They have striped brown fur and two curved horns atop their heads. They also have a ridge of hair running along their back and chest.
