- Wema: "Who's that? Why is [Shalo] here?"
- Tunu: "Is he hurt? What happened to him?"
- ―Wema and Tunu asking about Shalo
Wema and Tunu are teenage spotted hyenas that are members of Kubariki's Clan.
Appearance[]
Wema[]
Wema has a purple tinge to her gray fur. She bears dark gray stripes along her back, and black ears and legs. The beginnings of a dark mane extends from her forehead to in-between her shoulder blades, and her tail is black with a pinkish-gray underside. The color of her underbelly matches the underside of her tail. Her eyes are blue tinged with purple.
Tunu[]
Unlike the members of his clan, Tunu does not have a purple tinge to his pelt. Rather, his fur is pale gray, and he has dark gray stripes across his back and one in-between his eyes. Both his ears and legs are black, and his underbelly is gray tinged with pink. His tail is black, though its underside is the same pinkish-gray as his underbelly, and his eyes are dark blue. He also has one small tooth that protrudes from his mouth.
Personality[]
Wema[]
Wema is a very shy hyena cub. She is shown to be very vivacious, effervescent, frolicsome, sportive, and playful when interacting with her brother, Tunu. She looks up to Jasiri and feels safe in her presence, even in imminent danger.
Tunu[]
Like his sister, Tunu is a very shy hyena cub. He is shown to be very playful, often following his sister everywhere.

Team Play[]
Jasiri heads home, claiming that Kubariki needs help with Tunu and Wema.
The Rogue Hyena[]
Wema and Tunu play tag in the clearing, chasing each other, and Tunu leaps onto Wema, pinning her. He declares that she's it, and looking over at her cousins, Wema urges them to come play with her and Tunu. They approach, and Madoa asks what they want to play, to which Wema begs for hide and seek. Agreeing, Jasiri leads the cubs to a large bush, questioning if they want her, Madoa, and Asante or themselves to be it first, and excitedly, they wish to be it. Jasiri encourages them to hide while they count to ten, but just as she reaches five, Shinda and Shinuni rush in the clearing and report of a distressed animal in the Outlands. Tunu and Wema bound over, curious; Wema asks if they're still playing hide and seek, and Tunu questions why they're leaving, wanting to go with them.
Kubariki scolds them, affirming that the Outlands is no place for young cubs and that they will be staying in Chakula Plains. Wema pleads that they want to come and Tunu begs that they'll be good, but doubling down, Kubariki states that they'll be staying with Mdalasini, who promises to play with them. When the clan returns with a striped hyena, Wema exclaims that they're back and inquires as to who the hyena is. Tunu questions what's happened to him, noting that he's hurt, and chastising them for leaving the den, Mdalasini hurries up to them. One week later, Tunu and Wema wish the hyena, named Shalo, improper farewells, earning them a scolding from Asante.
Wildfire Emergency[]
Tunu and Wema are caught in a massive wildfire at Chakula Plains; the Lion Guard arrives to put it out. They and the other hyenas help extinguish the blaze and also help to put out the fires at Mbali Fields later on.
The Ultimate Lion Guard Day[]
Legends of the Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands[]
Wema and Tunu are now teenagers. Wema is attacked by Reth's Pride at the watering hole, and upon learning this, the Lion Guard, Mhina, Anga, and Jasiri head there to rescue her. Upon arriving, Jasiri leads her cousin to Beshte as Kion unleashes the Roar of the Elders, sending the lions flying. After checking up on Wema, Jasiri nuzzles her, and takes her back to Chakula Plains. Some time afterward, Jasiri mentions that she has to leave to help her parents get Wema and Tunu settled for the night. Later, Wema and Tunu are at Pride Rock shortly after the battle for the Pride Lands begins.
Legends of the Lion Guard: The Dark Prophecy[]
Wema and Tunu are some of the many animals gathered at Pride Rock when the Lion Guard departs for the Tree of Life.
