Wajinga is a young adult hyena in The Lion Guard: A New Era. He is the oldest member of Janja’s clan and an elite hunter. Because of his age, he is often defiant toward Janja, and his mouth often gets him in trouble. He has a quick temper, but is fierce in battle and proves to be a worthy member of the clan.
Appearance[]
Wajinga is a mix of a spotted and striped hyena with stripes along his back and a few spots near his neck. He has a long, luxurious mane and a tan underbelly. Wajinga’s eyes are bright blue in color. Wajinga often wears a sinister smile, which shows his devious nature.
History[]
Wajinga was born to a female hyena within the Heshima Clan. When he got old enough to hunt, he became obsessed with food, often taking down more animals than he could eat simply for the fun of it. Wajinga was exiled from the clan and shortly after joined Janja’s clan, who promised him ‘an all you can eat buffet’.
Preparing to attack
Though agreeing to the peace treaty with the Pridelanders, Wajinga was willing to go back on his word and attack an entire herd of animals as a threat to Janja’s relationship with Jasiri. Wajinga had a major crush on Jasiri and was furious when he found out that she had chosen Janja.
For his actions against the Pridelands, Wajinga, Cheezi, and Chungu were exiled.
