Personality[]
When left to his own devices, Ushari is calm and quiet, with an inclination to keep to himself. History[]
Legends of the Lion Guard: Protectors of the Pride Lands[]
Kion and Nguruma's Birthday[]
Shupavu reports to Ushari and Kiburi about the birthday party at Mizimu Grove. He finds it interesting that the kingdoms are attending, thinking that they can use it to their advantage.
Legends of the Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands[]
Ushari meets with Janja's Clan, Reirei's Pack, Shupavu's Group, and Kiburi's Float at Broken Rock. He explains the new plan to them, which is for Reirei's Pack to attack Nguruma at Lake Kiziwa. While Reirei is skeptical at first, she agrees to do it, leading her jackals to the border. Later, everyone reassembles at the volcano, and Ushari plans to stage another attack on Rafiki. He says that the mandrill is vulnerable to attacks and it doesn't matter if he defeated enemies last time. Later, Ushari meets with Janja's Clan, Shupavu's Group, and Mzingo's Committee at Broken Rock, explaining that he learned that the recent attacks failed again. He mentions a possible way they can get revenge on the Pride Lands, but he'll need to gather more information on it first. Later, Ushari and Reth meet with Shupavu and Waza at Broken Rock, and they learn that the Lion Guard, Mhina, and Anga are patrolling Embamba Canyon until another situation arises. Ushari decides to create a situation, ordering Reth and his pride to stage an attack. After some time passes, Ushari has assembled Kucha's Clan, Janja's Clan, Shupavu's Group, and Reth's Pride at Broken Rock, explaining that he has learned that the recent attacks failed again, but he has found a way to get revenge on the Lion Guard and the Pride Landers.
Curious, Janja inquires what that is, and Ushari reveals that he knows Kion is receiving advice from Mufasa, causing him and his clan to remind him that the Great Lion is dead. The hyenas are skeptical, not wanting to act like lions, but Ushari reminds them of Scar, the Evil Lion of the Past that helped their kind before. Janja sarcastically remarks that Scar is dead, but Ushari states that they can summon him with a bakora staff and Kion roaring. Cheezi mentions that Kion's roars are strongest when his loved ones are in danger, especially if it involves Nguruma, pleasing Ushari. He orders Kucha and her clan to kidnap Nguruma and take Makini's staff, which they agree to do, and right before the ambush, Kucha tells her allies to remember what Ushari said. After their plan succeeds, Zakia joins Ushari at the volcano, reporting the news to him. He is excited to hear that their plan is working, telling Zakia to join Kucha at the steam vents, and requesting for Shupavu to fetch Reth's Pride. Ushari then grasps Makini's staff, heading into the caldera with Janja. As Kucha and Kion confront each other, Ushari hides behind a rock, silently egging on Kion so he can roar. However, the lion continues to argue with words, and the cobra groans in disappointment. When Kion finally uses the Roar of the Elders and makes the volcano erupt, Janja and Ushari reunite in the caldera. The latter comments that their plan still hasn't worked, and in a fit of anger, Janja chucks Makini's staff into the lava. She questions why they tried using it to talk to Scar, but out of nowhere, a fiery lion's head appears. They share a stunned glance, and the lion confirms that he is indeed Scar.
Later, Ushari learns from Shupavu and Njano that a party from the Tree of Life has arrived in the Pride Lands, deciding that Scar must hear about this. He leads the skinks to the volcano, where Scar is informed, and he plots an attack to keep the Lion Guard busy. Ushari asks Shupavu if she's got the plan, making her nod. Scar soon meets with Janja's Clan, Ushari, and Shupavu, wanting to stage an attack at Big Ravine. He turns to the cobra, saying that they will need to devise a new strategy in order to be successful. Soon afterwards, Scar and Ushari meet with Shupavu's Group and Janja's Clan in the volcano, where the news about the Tumaini Pride is shared. Banzai asks if they'll attack the leopons, and groaning in frustration, Ushari says that they aren't doing so directly. During another one of Scar's meetings, Ushari is present, and Scar reveals his intentions to take out Rafiki and Makini. Ushari asks if they'll win this time, to which he responds that he needs to ensure success, demanding a vulture. After seeing the kingdom delegations, Shupavu says that this is interesting news, deciding to inform Ushari. She informs him and Scar in the volcano, and both find the news interesting. When Scar commences his war on the Pride Lands, Ushari is present in the volcano, and he asks how they will conquer the territories. Once the Outlanders are dispatched, Ushari isn't sure if these attacks will work, but Scar is certain. Despite his reassurance, he still harbors doubts.
Later, Ushari asks Scar what his final stage of his plan is, and he chuckles, inquiring if he's ever told him how he got his scar. He tells him the story, and the more he reveals, the more Ushari becomes fascinated and intrigued, his eyes shining with admiration. Unbeknownst to them, Kinyonga is spying nearby, disguised on a rock. Once Scar finishes, Ushari murmurs that's how it happened, and is surprised to learn that Kion actually has the power to vanquish Scar. Scar believes it is time to enact the final part of his plan - making sure Kion loses control of the Roar - which means scarring him. Meanwhile, Kinyonga reveals what she has learned from Ushari and Scar at Mapema Rock. Afterward, Scar and Ushari assemble their forces in the volcano, and Scar orders them to make the Lion Guard think he's putting up a fight. Ushari questions if he's sure about this, and Scar is certain this stage of the plan won't fail, making him hope he's right. When Kion's Army advances, Scar states that Ushari knows what to do, and he coils up behind a rock. Scar confronts Kion, murmuring that destiny is full of surprises, ordering Ushari to strike now. At once, he latches onto Kion's eye, and permanently scars him.
Bunga yells at him, tackling him and pinning him to the ground. Kion groans in pain, and Ushari remarks that his venom can make it difficult to think, but Bunga silences him. Kion approaches Scar, choosing to forgive him and letting the Spirits of the Past decide his fate instead. They send rain into the caldera, which begins to evaporate Scar, and Ushari exclaims that his plan failed. He watches as Scar is vanquished for good, and refusing to accept defeat, Ushari lunges toward Kion in a last-ditch effort to salvage everything. However, Bunga intercepts him, and they fall into the lava. While Ushari dies, Ono manages to rescue Bunga, but damages his eyesight in the process. When Kion reunites with Mhina at Pride Rock, Kion informs him that Ushari scarred him, but he'll be okay. He explains that Scar ordered the cobra to attack him, but Bunga knocked him into the lava. As Rafiki looks at Kion, the latter admits that he hasn't felt right since Ushari bit him. Rafiki explains to his kin that if Ushari's venom stays inside Kion for a while longer, he might no longer tell the difference between right and wrong.
Legends of the Lion Guard: The Dark Prophecy[]
Kiara reassures Kion that what Ushari did won't change who he is. Sighing, Kion admits that after Ushari bit him, Scar said he had the Mark of Evil and would turn evil like him. Later, Kion tells Nirmala that the sooner they start his healing, the faster he'll be cured from what Ushari has done to him. Meanwhile, in the Pride Lands, Nala recalls what Rafiki warned - if Kion was not cured of Ushari's venom, he would no longer be able to tell right from wrong. Simba understands her concern, but reassures her that the Tree's healers will cure Kion before it's too late. At Pratibimba, Kion struggles to look inside of himself with Ushari's venom affecting his thoughts.
When Mhina arrives, Kion tells him that he's only been able to think about what Ushari and Scar have done. For this reason, he's also hesitant to speak with Mufasa, but Mhina assures him that what they did does not matter to him. As he reflects on his relationship with Kion, Mhina notes that he is still not fully cured from Ushari's venom and has a long way to go. During their day out at Icy River, Kion tells Mhina that he originally thought Scar and Ushari were trying to trick him into believing he was the next bearer of the Mark of Evil. Whilst arguing with Bunga on a patrol on Kion, Fuli sarcastically suggests that their friend is still being healed from Ushari's venom.
