Unexpected Love - Chapter 8 (pt 2)

When Vitani and Kopa got back from their incident with Haki and Asani, who should greet them but Tiifu and Zuri - well, they were really greeting only Kopa.

"Hey, Prince Kopa," Zuri said to him, with a cute smile.

Nervously, lightly annoyed, Kopa said, "You know I'm not a fan of that name, girls."

"We can't help it," Tiifu giggled. "You're just as handsome as a Prince, too." Her and Zuri laughed.

Kopa grinned slightly, then wandered off elsewhere, with a nervous smile at Vitani.

Without thinking, Vitani turned to Tiifu and Zuri and asked, "What do you get from calling him that anyway?"

"What do you mean?" said Zuri, also annoyed.

"You two are always smothering him," Vitani replied, her ears back "Clearly, he doesn't like being called a prince, yet you do it anyway. Do you ever think that maybe it reminds him of his past?"

"Well, *scoff*, we do have a right to hang out with him, you know!" Zuri spat. "But do you have to bother him constantly?" Vitani asked.

"Why does it concern you?" replied Tiifu.

Vitani stopped herself before she could say anything else.

Ugh, why does this bother me, anyway? She thought. It was just a stupid nickname.

"It shouldn't," Vitani answered, even more annoyed looking then she was before.

Tiifu and Zuri looked at each other, and Vitani left the entrance of Pride Rock, where her and the two lionesses had been discussing.

Later that day, to get her mind off of the outburst with Tiifu and Zuri, Vitani hung out with two of her former Outsider friends, Beauty Spot and Digger the lionesses. Imara and Shabaha had gone on their own patrol, with Vitani's persmission.

Vitani mostly just listened to her friends as they talked. Then she noticed Kopa was standing all by himself, looking upset. Vitani felt an urge to go by him.

"I'll see you later, girls," she said to her lioness friends. "Sure thing, Vitani." Digger said, with a smile from her and Beauty Spot.

As soon as Vitani reached him, Kopa said, "Hey, Vitani. There's something I wanna tell you...", with a sigh.

"Ok, what is it?" Vitani asked. Kopa started, "Well, the thing is, you know the other night when---"

Suddenly, Shabaha and Imara appeared behind the two lions. "Hey, 'Tani." Shabaha said. "Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but me and Imara found this hyena roaming around by one of the borders. She says that she's---"

"Asante!" Kopa exclaimed. "You're alive!"

Asante ran up to Kopa with a smile. "I'm glad to see you've found your pride again, Kopa."

"There's someone I'd like you to meet." Kopa said. Vitani leaped over to the lion and hyena.

"Pleased to meet you," Asante said to Vitani. Vitani replied back, "So, you outmaneuvered Makucha, huh?"
