This is the second part of the tenth chapter of Caldafox's Lion King/Guard fanfic "Unexpected Love".
Plot[]

It was night, 10:00 p.m human time. Vitani was restless, so she went outside Pride Rock and to the meadow where her and Kopa had stargazed several weeks ago. She looked up at the stars in fascination.
"I knew I'd find you here," a familiar voice said. Vitani turned around and saw Kopa standing there, smiling.
"Kopa, hi," Vitani said, surprised. "What are you doing up?"
"I had something on my mind, and I couldn't sleep." Kopa started. "Vitani, I know you probably think I was gossiping about you with Asante, but I wasn't. I would never do that to you. I'm sorry that I probably excluded you from our conversations too much, also."
Vitani exhaled. "It's alright, Kopa. I'm sorry I thought that of you. I understand that you just wanted to catch up with an old friend."
Kopa exhaled, too. "You know, Vitani... we were talking about you a lot. But in a good way." Vitani smiled slightly.
"You see..." Kopa started up again, "Ever since we stargazed together, I felt different around you, Vitani. I was always more happy to see you than I'd ever been. I now realize, Vitani, even though it took some figuring out... that feeling was love."
Vitani's eyes widened. "What?"
"Why do you think I was never interested in Tiifu and Zuri's flirting?" Kopa said. "Because I only had my eyes on one lioness. And it was you."
Vitani started in amazement. "Why, Kopa?" Vitani inquired. "What intrigued you about me?"
"I was fascinated by you the moment I met you," Kopa explained. "Your bravery, fierceness, loyalty to your position as the Lion Guard's leader... all these things added up to utter amazement that formed into..."
"Love." Vitani finished. Kopa looked at her, and she smiled sneakily. "But you're gonna have to catch me first, Kopa."
"Haven't I already?" The male lion joked. Vitani laughed, then took off running.
"Hey!" Kopa said. He laughed to himself as he ran up to the lioness, quickly catching up to her.
The two ran side-by-side for a while, laughing and romping through the meadow, stirring up bats and birds. Then Kopa tripped on a loose root, and fell to the ground. "Oomf!"
Vitani skidded to a stop and turned back to Kopa. "You alright?"
"Yeah," Kopa smiled, looking up at Vitani's sparkling lavender eyes. She offered him her paw, and helped hoist the lion up.
Kopa smiled at Vitani, and she smiled at him. Suddenly, Vitani found herself nuzzling into Kopa's fluffy brown mane, causing him to lightly blush. Then he closed his eyes and smiled, rubbing against her.
"I love you too, Kopa." Vitani smiled.
