Life for humans was hard and treacherous. But, for one woman, it was worse. Her name was Msichana. Her faraway home was infiltrated with plagues. And worst of all, she had just had a child.

Msichana didn't want her daughter to have to live in that mess. Luckily, in her childhood, Msichana's late mother had told her the legend of the Tree of Life and the Night Pride. Msichana decided that the Tree was the safest place for her daughter. So, she wrapped the baby in a blanket and headed for the Tree of Life. After many days, they had finally reached their destination.

Msichana lovingly gazed at her daughter before setting her in a handmade basket. "Night Pride?" she called. Then, a pride a 4 lions emerged from the nearby mountain pass. Msichana went to them and set her child in front of them.

Night Pride, O Night Pride, be gentle with her for me

For my precious daughter you care..

If you know somewhere she can be free..

Night Pride, please take her there....

Msichana then noticed Baliyo, one of the male lions, peering over the basket, fawning over the baby girl. He then took the handle of the basket in his jaws as he nodded at Msichana. "Don't worry, ma'am. We'll take excellent care of your daughter", assured Surak, the eldest male of his pride. Msichana then said one last goodbye to her beloved baby girl before she was sent away. "Deliver us, baby girl," Msichana whispered.

Back at the Tree of Life, the Night Pride was trying to figure out a name for the new baby. "What do you think we should name her, Surak?" Rani asked as she turned to see Baliyo playing with the baby. "How about Bozi? It means 'deliverance'. Fits her perfectly," he beamed as the baby girl hugged his face. That's when he knew, Bozi would be perfect to be his new adoptive daughter.
