This chapter is called "The Outsider Situation".

Plot[]

(The next morning, Timon and Pumbaa wake up from their room in Pride Rock as they stretch and get up out of their nests to start the day)

  • Timon: Another bird catches the worm. A new morning to start the day.
  • Pumbaa: A good morning to ya.
  • Timon: I wonder what's for breakfast today?
  • Pumbaa: Grubs? Chicken wings? Fish sticks? Bagels?
  • Timon: You never guess what I left out from last night. *reveal the leaves as grubs*
  • Pumbaa: Grubs! Oh boy, I wanna eat them now!
  • Timon: Serve yourself! *eat some worms*
  • Pumbaa: *eat some grubs* Om nom nom!
  • Timon: Jeez, eat with your mouth closed when you eat!
  • Pumbaa: I was eating with my mouth closed. Om nom?
  • Timon: You are literially talking when you have food in your mouth?
  • Pumbaa: So what? It's a free pride. What do you expect?
  • Timon: You should never talk with your mouth full, even with food in your mouth.
  • Pumbaa: *swallow the grubs and burp* Sorry.
  • Timon: You also burp! You shouldn't burped in front of my face!
  • Pumbaa: What is wrong with having to tell the wisdoms on what to or what to not do?!
  • Timon: How many times we have to go over? Learn your manners!
  • Pumbaa: I learned my manners from my parents before I was kicked out of my sounder!
  • Rafiki: *show up* Good morning my boys. Are you up for some lessons today?
  • Timon: Oh, hi Rafiki. I didn't see you there?
  • Pumbaa: Like they say. When the student is ready, the teacher appears.
  • Rafiki: *chuckles* Ha ha ha. Go out and play. You don't even go to school anymore.
  • Pumbaa: Very funny, wise monkey. Come on Timon.
  • Timon: No more fortune cookies for you, shaman. *he and Pumbaa left the cave*
  • Rafiki: Oof, what was I thinking?

(Timon and Pumbaa head outside atop of Pride Rock to watch the view of the savannah while Simba and Nala interact with Kiara at the same time)

  • Timon: A beautiful day it is, Pumbaa.
  • Pumbaa: I can see the neighbors watching and waving hi at us.
  • Timon: The birds are on the breeze. Like ducks, they usually migrate from one place to another.
  • Pumbaa: The same can apply to the crocodiles, despite being scary.
  • Timon: It been a long journey since we travel here. After years, we finally live in the big pointy rock and work with all the lions that own the place!
  • Pumbaa: When we were nobodies, we got nothing to live. We were robbed, backstabbed, dumped, catfished and kicked out of our homes.
  • Timon: Come on Pumbaa. We're somebodies now. They accept us to join the group and got promoted as servants, like supervisors!
  • Pumbaa: We should have been team leaders instead.
  • Timon: Being a team leader is a lot of work, same with a manager position.
  • Pumbaa: *see Kiara heading out* Timon, Kiara is leaving the Pride Rock without her parents!
  • Timon: Pumbaa, that's none of our business. Our conversation is about us. Right here.
  • Pumbaa: She's gonna put us all in danger and meet up with the bad people like Simba mention from last night.
  • Timon: Oh silly. When Simba was young, he put us in danger. We have to save him, grab him and prevent any injuries from all sort of creatures like snakes and scorpions.
  • Pumbaa: At least, we raised a nice lion to watch him grow to a king to challenge Scar at the top of the rock. The rest is history.
  • Simba: *show up* Hey, Timon. Pumbaa. Come here.
  • Timon: *enters, on Pumbaa's back* Good morning, mon Capitan.
  • Simba: I want you to keep a close watch on Kiara. You know she's bound to run off.
  • Timon: No worries, Simba. We're on her like stink on a warthog!
  • Pumbaa: Hey!
  • Timon: It's the hard truth, Pumbaa. Live with it.
  • Simba: Guys, I'm counting on you. Danger could be lurking behind every rock.
  • Timon: *looks quizzically at Simba, then takes him mock-seriously* Ah hah. *he and Pumbaa begin looking theatrically from side to side, scanning behind every rock...*
  • Simba: *count on them* Do not let me down.

(Timon and Pumbaa head to the savannah as they look in every rock by scanning for Kiara, close to the Outlands as they head to a pool while picking some rocks up)

  • Timon: Kiara got to be in here somewhere.
  • Pumbaa: She's not hiding under a rock.
  • Timon: Pumbaa, she's not a worm. She's somewhere around the place.
  • Pumbaa: It's hard to find a lion when they're off to hiding like they're playing hide-n-seek on us.
  • Timon: Kids these days. They wanna hang out, throw some berries at us and rock and roll all night.
  • Pumbaa: Glad we're not one of them when we first met.
  • Timon: I'm still a tunnel klutz after all with a bunch of mistakes I never get passed to.
  • Pumbaa: Everyone in here made mistakes and that doesn't mean, you are still stuck with the same mistakes like getting the same scores and same results in a game.
  • Timon: Shh. I saw Kiara.
  • Pumbaa: Where?
  • Timon: She's standing right on top of a rock, close to the Outlands!
  • Pumbaa: Eek! She can't go to the Outlands.
  • Timon: You don't know how dangerous it is to go to one of the most dangerous places since the Elephant Graveyard.
  • Pumbaa: Let's try scaring her away.
  • Timon: Are you crazy? You try and see for yourself.
  • Pumbaa: *crawl on the grass with a rustling sound* Steady, don't panic.
  • Timon: She's like a butterfly that fly out of a shell.
  • Pumbaa: Easy there. Don't scream.
  • Timon: Stay in picture. Don't look behind.

(Timon and Pumbaa show up on the grass, close to Kiara as the trio squeals of fright and surprise as Kiara is frightened backwards, and falls off the far side of the knoll into a pool below. Pumbaa gets set to leap after her as Timon jumps off just as he throws himself into the pool.)

  • Pumbaa: Oooh, don't worry, Kiara-- Uncle Pumbaa's comin'!
  • Timon: Oh, no... ohh... uh... uh... let's see, uh... *he goes in-character as though talking to Simba* Gee, Simba. The good news is, we found your daughter. The bad news is, we dropped a warthog on her. Is... there a problem with that?
  • Pumbaa: *looking from side to side in the water* Kiara? Kiara?
  • Timon: Pumbaa! Let me define "babysitting"!
  • Pumba: *he finds Kiara underneath him, spluttering, and he gets off* Sorry. Now, Princess Kiara... as Simba's daughter, you know better than to go off all alone. You could have been hurt!
  • Kiara: But... but...
  • Timon: Hurt! Oh... Simba would kill us! You didn't slip a disc, did you?
  • Kiara: B-but--
  • Timon: *checks to make sure Kiara is intact* Catch a fever? Get a hangnail? *examining her claws; she pulls her paw away*
  • Kiara: Nnngh! Timon...
  • Timon: I had one once.
  • Pumbaa: Very painful.
  • Timon: Excruciating! *holding a fern branch over Kiara's head, shading her* Darling... with your complexion, you should stay out of the sun. *Kiara swats the branch away on him* Whaaat? Do you wanna wrinkle?
  • Kiara: Would someone please just listen to me?
  • Timon: I'm sorry; I wasn't listening. Did you say something, Princess?
  • Kiara: I'm not just a princess, you know. That's only half of who I am!
  • Pumbaa: Oh, uh... who's the other half?
  • Pumbaa: Uh... well, I, uh... um...
  • Timon: Well, while you're figuring it out, let's eat. *snaps his fingers, and Pumbaa lifts up a log* Grubs!
  • Pumbaa: The other white meat!
  • Timon: *offering a leaf-full of grubs to Kiara* And so high in protein!
  • Kiara: Eww! Gross!
  • Timon: No? How 'bout you, big boy?
  • Pumbaa: *sniff* Aaah. Love grubs!
  • Timon: Not like... *join Pumbaa* Love! *tosses a bug into Pumbaa's mouth as Pumbaa crunches and coughs on it a little, then hiccups and spits the fragments back onto the leaf, coating them all with saliva, feeling grossed out* Ohhh.. you always do that! You take a bite out of every one, and then put it back. It drives me crazy!
  • Pumbaa: But you can't tell from the outside which are the real slimy ones!
  • Timon: Slimy? Pumbaa... my corpulent compadre. It's the crunchy ones that make the meal!
  • Pumbaa: Slimy!... Slimy!... Slimy!... Slimy!... Slimy!... Slimy!... Slimy!... Less filling!... Less filling!... Less filling!... Less filling!... Low fat!
  • Timon: Crunchy!... Crunchy!... Crunchy!... Crunchy!... Crunchy!... Crunchy!... Crunchy!... Tastes good!... Tastes good!... Tastes good!... Tastes good!... Check, please! *Kiara wanders off as he continue complaining to Pumbaa*
  • Pumbaa: I want some real grubs from the jungle, not from the savannah where the lions rule the land!
  • Timon: Grubs are grubs! Every animal in here have eaten grubs for a long time. I don't care if a zebra or a giraffe have eaten one.
  • Pumbaa: Then why can't we get them from the store where Rafiki run it all!
  • Timon: We don't live in his tree, simpleton!
  • Pumbaa: Hey wise one, you don't mock me or my appeitite!
  • Timon: *realize Kiara is gone* Kiara? Oh Kiara! Where did she go?!
  • Pumbaa: She wander off to the Outlands.
  • Timon: Ah! She's escaped! You're not listening and look what you done?!
  • Pumbaa: I didn't send her off like that! You weren't even paying close attention to where she goes!
  • Timon: It's not my fault for dragging her out. Now we have to tell Simba and rescue Kiara from those wacky freaks!
  • Pumbaa: Come on! You should have brought in your friends to spy on her even more before we were caught in the mist of danger.
  • Timon: Play it out, Pum-baa! It's your fault too.
  • Pumbaa: Don't blame me. Blame Simba. He's gonna kill us for it.

(Timon and Pumbaa rushes back at Pride Rock while Simba watch the view on the edge with Zazu explaining about nature)

  • Zazu: The sky is beautiful and the clouds are breezing. Isn't it sweet?
  • Simba: Yes. As long we don't fall into another storm.
  • Timon: *show up huffing and puffing with Pumbaa* Simba... Simba... Simba...
  • Simba: Hey guys. What's with the rush?
  • Zazu: Are you sweating?
  • Pumbaa: Kiara is gone! She wander off to the Outlands!
  • Simba: The Outlands?! No! How could this be?! I told you to not make her put is in danger! And now you blew it! Why did you let me down?!
  • Timon: I'm sorry Simba. We were complaining about grubs.
  • Pumbaa: I heard the quality of the grubs haven't taste so well since Mufasa's reign.
  • Simba: I'm sounding like my father and now, we have to go find her in the rocky ruins!
  • Nala: What's going on?
  • Simba: Come on my pride. We have to go find Kiara all together! Now!
  • Timon: It's one of our faults.
  • Pumbaa: Our mistakes prove that we can't keep the job as babysitters.
  • Simba: What direction did Kiara went to?
  • Timon: I told you. She's in the Outlands and we headed straight.
  • Pumbaa: How did that happen? Come on people. Let's hit the road!

(Timon, Pumbaa, Simba and the rest of the pride left Pride Rock as they head to the Outlands to find Kiara and where she went)

  • Timon: *gulp* Not the Outlands.
  • Pumbaa: This place is far more dangerous than the Gorge.
  • Simba: Where did Kiara went?
  • Timon: Simba, but we just got here.
  • Simba: Where did she went?! Answer me! It's not a hard question.
  • Pumbaa: She probably must have roll herself to the holes where the grubs are.
  • Simba: How can I believe you?
  • Nala: Simba, how could this be?
  • Simba: I don't know. Keep looking.
  • Timon: Yeah yeah. Going too far to the danger zone was a mistake. We should have never go there in the first place.
  • Pumbaa: What is so bad about the Outlands?
  • Timon: I've been there once. When I was a kid, my class went on a field trip. You do know, this place was one of the meerkat's former homes when the meerkats were migrating from home to home.
  • Pumbaa: Oh no! This is terrible. I am so sorry this happen to you.
  • Timon: There were Outsiders on that home and Zira was one of them. I can even recognize her face the first time I met her again in the Pride Lands since the Outlands.
  • Pumbaa: So you met her again when you were in the Pride Lands and you're telling me right now that you encounter her?
  • Timon: Yes. I bet that Simba guy is gonna banish her away a second chance to the end of the world. Heh, no bad person can overthrown a king like a lion.
  • Pumbaa: And I thought my bad smell can't defeat those fearless predators like cape dogs and jackals.
  • Zazu: Sire, your daughter is playfighting with a lion cub!
  • Simba: Kiara! That must be her!
  • Nala: We found her on the spot with the Outsider kid, come on!
  • Timon: Oh, there she went.
  • Pumbaa: She really put us in danger to come all the way here to trouble, did she?
  • Timon: *see Zira* Huh? Someone look familiar on the back.
  • Pumbaa: Like what do you mean?

(The Pride Landers show up as Simba roars in front of Kovu and Kiara as Zira jumps out of the grass and roars back with Nala, Timon, Pumbaa and the other lionesses joining in)

  • Simba: Zira!
  • Zira: Simba!
  • Timon: Well, well, well. What do we have here?
  • Pumbaa: I smell some trouble on the back of the land.
  • Timon: Timon, Pumbaa. Great. Now that we all know each other.. GET OUTTA OUR PRIDE LANDS!
  • Zira: Your Pride Lands? *she snarls, making Timon leap backwards over Pumbaa's head in fear*

(Timon pause the movie, knowing how fierce Zira is)

  • Timon: Boy, look how fierce that lady is.
  • Pumbaa: And I thought she was a scream.
  • Timon: She'll never learn how to control her pride over starvation and survival.
  • Pumbaa: If I ever see her in person, I'll scream for my life!
  • Timon: Pumbaa, you always have a point about running away from enemies.
  • Pumbaa: She must be the type of lady that push for opression over the Pride Lands.
  • Timon: She's no better than this. Not even for a bad lion like Scar. *resume the movie*

(The movie continues as Timon and Pumbaa rant about Zira during their encounter)

  • Timon: Can't you believe that Pumbaa?
  • Pumbaa: She roar at us. I thought she is like the meanest old lioness she ever lived. Even her son will soon grow to become king and look like Scar.
  • Timon: Pbbb! That's not a king... that's a fuzzy maraca!
  • Pumbaa: He will never be king and step up to the late Scar. Scar was never a good king, compared to Simba was when he brought all the peace back to our homes.
  • Timon: They know the penalty for returning to the Pride Lands!
  • Pumbaa: But the little maraca does not! However... they'll enjoy their dirty little home more with less food and water.
  • Timon: How long they have been surviving while starving for years?
  • Pumbaa: I had no clue.
  • Timon: Oh, the conversation is over. We should be leaving now.
  • Pumbaa: Let's go. *he and everyone leave with the two groups moving apart*
  • Kiara: Bye...
  • Kovu: Bye...

(After their encounter with Zira in the Outlands, the Pride Landers return to the Pride Lands as Timon and Pumbaa walk into the savannah to have a small conversation together)

  • Timon: Pumbaa, what did you think you were doing? We almost got Kiara killed today.
  • Pumbaa: That wasn't my idea to let her go. You were suppose to babysit her!
  • Timon: We were chosen to babysit Kiara. And you made her go away.
  • Pumbaa: Don't blame me. Blame ourselves. What did we do to deserve this?
  • Timon: Nothing. Simba thinks we have been disrespecting the Circle of Life over our errands. But we're not!
  • Pumbaa: We're making lot of mistakes lately, compared to what we've done in our younger selves.
  • Timon: You're right. Uncle Max is right. People back home think I'll never be leader to run a colony like mine.
  • Pumbaa: Didn't you dug up a hole to trap the hyenas? You are brave enough to run a colony.
  • Timon: I can't run a colony. My clumsiness can't protect these people from danger and getting eaten by all sorts of predators like *cough* hyenas! *cough* Need to say more?
  • Pumbaa: Are you sick?
  • Timon: No. I'm okay! It was just a cough on the inside. Like clearing my throat.
  • Pumbaa: I thought the flu make you sick even more.
  • Zazu: *fly* You know your lesson, boys! Never fail again! Learn your lesson!
  • Timon: Okay Zazu! We get it!
  • Pumbaa: What if you don't want to be leader?
  • Timon: It'll be no fun.
  • Pumbaa: That's like saying you don't want to be a meerkat or a warthog. It's in your blood... as I am. We are part of each other. *he smiles and playfully shove him off the rock*
  • Timon: Hey.
  • Pumbaa: We're different animals, right?
  • Timon: Oh look. Simba and Kiara are having a small conversation about being connected.
  • Pumbaa: Well, we should join the bandwagon too and join in song mode.
  • Timon: Fine. *sing*

As you go through life you'll see

There is so much that we

Don't understand

(Timon pause the movie for a second, embarrassed at the scene)

  • Timon: Heh heh. I sound cringy in this. Do we really have to skip over this?
  • Pumbaa: No no. Let's watch the whole thing.
  • Timon: Fine. *resume the movie*

(The movie continues where Timon and Pumbaa sing their version of "We Are One" as we see a mother bird sternly prevents one of her chicks from trying to fly; a wildebeest calf gets up for the first time as they watch)

  • Timon: *sing*

And the only thing we know

Is things don't always go

The way we planned

But you'll see every day

That we'll never turn away

When it seems all your dreams come undone *see the monkeys grooming each other; hippos jumping and playing in the pool*

We will stand by your side

Filled with hope and filled with pride

We are more than we are

We are one

  • Pumbaa: Are we really one in a family?
  • Timon: Yes Pumbaa. We are who we are. We can be monkeys, birds, antelopes, wildebeests, hippos, crocodiles and even a lion. Take a beetle for example. *see a beetle crawl out of the hole*
  • Pumbaa: Oh. If there anything I really wanna be, it could be a grub. *see a worm crawl out of the hole*
  • Timon: Pumbaa, you're a meat eater. You can eat any you like.
  • Pumbaa: I thought pigs are herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. If there's something I wanna be, it's the way I am. *look into the reflection in the fiver as a fish pop out of the water*

If there's so much I must be

Can I still just be me

The way I am?

Can I trust in my own heart

Or am I just one part

Of some big plan? *wind blows on him*

  • Timon: *hold some leaves and throw them up in the sky*

Even those who are gone

Are with us as we go on

Your journey has only begun

Tears of pain, tears of joy

One thing nothing can destroy

Is our pride, deep inside

We are one

  • Pumbaa: Come on Timmy! Let's take a ride!
  • Timon: *hop on Pumbaa* Wahoo! *ride on Pumbaa as Pumbaa run through groups of curiously unafraid animals, many with their young, as they approach Pride Rock*
  • Pumbaa: Oh yeah! Pride Rock!
  • Timon: The big pointy rock it is.
  • Pumbaa: How did we make it all the way home on time?
  • Timon: I don't know. Even Simba and Kiara are back at the same time.
  • Pumbaa: What a coincidence here. *sing*

We are one, you and I

We are like the earth and sky

One family under the sun

  • Timon: *he and Pumbaa walk up Pride Rock*

All the wisdom to lead

All the courage that you need

You will find when you see

We are one

  • Pumbaa: One of a kind, Timon.
  • Timon: See Pumbaa. We are all connected to the Circle of Life.
  • Pumbaa: We are one. One pride together.
  • Timon: That's the lesson about life, buddo. The more they grow, the more they'll continue to expand.
  • Pumbaa: When we die, we become the grass and the animals will eat us as the grass.
  • Timon: As long as we live here, it's who we are. We'll understand someday.
  • Pumbaa: But we already learn a lot in here when we first moved.
  • Timon: That's old news now. The jungle isn't going to push us back for some new acquaintances. This time, we're going to be learning some new lessons on the rock. But we still need a new motto.
  • Pumbaa: So it's not going to be Hakuna Matata anymore? So no more worries to worry?
  • Timon: Nah. We don't live in the past no more. Let it go. It'll take time to learn a new motto when we get used to studying it in the coming days. Let's just go to bed my man.
  • Pumbaa: Okie dokie. Man, I'm gonna be missing this phrase so much when we start living in the rock more often than living in a jungle full of paradise.
  • Timon: We were party poopers in life. But not anymore.
  • Pumbaa: Oh well. I wish I was a piglet again. But forget it.

(After a long day, Timon and Pumbaa head back to their room at Pride Rock as they set up their nest beds for the night)

  • Timon: Boy, another long day in the Pride Lands.
  • Pumbaa: Those days never get old. What a good day it is.
  • Timon: You believe it was a good day? Wrong! It was a bad day! Kiara almost got killed today by an Outsider!
  • Pumbaa: We should have known better than watching her walk and wander. She fall into danger and got us all in trouble.
  • Timon: Why didn't you catch her first?!
  • Pumbaa: It wasn't my idea. It was you obiously.
  • Timon: No! You were suppose to catch her. It's one of our duties to keep an eye on her. But we missed.
  • Pumbaa: Then why couldn't we catch her together while on the run?!
  • Simba: *show up* Hey guys. Sorry to interupt and yelling at you earlier after a long rush.
  • Timon: Go away Simba. We're having a private conversation here.
  • Pumbaa: Are you here to give us grubs?
  • Simba: No grubs. I just want to let you know that next time, please don't let her run off without knowing.
  • Timon: But we tell the truth.
  • Pumbaa: We tried, but our fight with the grubs was interupted.
  • Simba: Your focus isn't on complaining about food. Your focus is on Kiara and I put you in that position to keep an watch on her since her birth.
  • Timon: We all know the reason why. We learned our lessons our always and you don't have to tell us like a hundred times to do it over and over again like next times.
  • Pumbaa: Are you putting the blame on us?
  • Simba: No you guys. Being a king isn't a easy job to do. It take a lot of responsiablities to handle all the tasks on protecting the Pride Lands and being honest to all the animals you know about.
  • Timon: I'm gonna be stressful when someone back at the colony promote me as leader like my dad and Uncle Max.
  • Pumbaa: I can't run a position as a king. Too much work for me.
  • Simba: Listen guys. If one of you run in position as a leader, it's gonna take a lot of work and responsilitables to do all the work done and being honest with dignity while running a team.
  • Timon: I always wanted to be leader of the colony.
  • Pumbaa: I was never a leader at all.
  • Simba: Being a leader take some time. If you were leader, you're going to have to protect your home, your pride, your people, and fight back predators that stand into our way, like those backstabbing notorious Outsiders.
  • Timon: You're right. If I don't want to be a leader, then fine. I don't have to be one like my father who moved out of the colony years ago.
  • Pumbaa: We need life lessons.
  • Simba: Are you sure? You know, you only got in trouble once for not protecting Kiara by wandering her off to the Outlands.
  • Timon: It was an accident.
  • Pumbaa: Fighting over grubs was a mistake. I blew it myself.
  • Simba: You didn't blew it. You guys are great friends. You always proceed with dignity and honor. I just don't want you guys falling into trouble for Kiara ever again. Got it?
  • Timon: Got it.
  • Pumbaa: I agree.
  • Simba: Good. We'll be discussing more in the morning. Get some sleep. You have life lessons to take tomorrow morning. *leave the room*
  • Timon: Not life lessons. I guess you were right all along.
  • Pumbaa: I knew it was going to happen.
  • Timon: Well buddy. Time to go to bed.
  • Pumbaa: Nothing to see here in the singing wazoos.
  • Timon: *lay on the nest* Ah. A disappointing day in the making.
  • Pumbaa: *lay on the nest* Gosh, we were almost grounded.
  • Timon: Never more the danger in the bad places.
  • Pumbaa: Eh.
  • Timon: Goodnight bud.
  • Pumbaa: Goodnight to you. *sleep with Timon*
