It was a beautiful day in the Pridelands.
Kovu and Vitani were spending time together at the Meadow.
"How was the hunt?" Kovu asked.
"It was fine." Vitani answered.
She stood up, and glanced up.
"What is it, Tani?" Kovu asked.
Vitani sighed.
"I'm doing something that I should've done long ago." Vitani said.
"What?" Kovu prompted.
"Dad, I want to talk to you!" Vitani called.
Kovu gasped.
He and Vitani shivered as Atka's spirit embraced them.
"My children." Atka murmured.
Kovu stood up, and pressed himself against Vitani's pelt.
Vitani curled her tail around his shoulders.
"We love you, Dad." Vitani said.
"We miss you very much." Kovu added.
Atka's expression softened.
"I love both of you. I'm very proud of you two." he said.
"Really?" Kovu asked.
Atka nodded.
"Both of you have grown up well." he said.
"Thank you, Dad." Vitani said.
"I'm so sorry I had to leave while both of you still needed me." Atka said.
Kovu and Vitani exchanged a glance.
"It's not your fault." Vitani answered.
"Tani took really good care of me. She made sure I never truly forgot you." Kovu said.
Vitani pressed her muzzle against his cheek.
"I'm grateful for that." Atka said warmly.
