Surak is an adult male lion who lives at the Tree of Life. He is the son of Dayaalu and Janna, the mate of Nirmala, the father of Aminia and Danyal, and a member of the Night Pride.
He is a supporting character in Legends of the Lion Guard.
Appearance[]
Surak's pelt is brown, while his muzzle, paws, and underbelly are paler in color. His mane is brown, and his eyes are brown.
Personality[]
Surak is soft-spoken, thoughtful, and calm. He holds a countenance of maturity and works hard to defend the Tree of Life alongside the rest of his pride. He tends to maintain a rather stoic persona and acts quite seriously during even the tensest of situations.
Despite this, he is not emotionless, as he is shown to be very kindhearted and caring when interacting with his family or those close to him. Surak is also quite knowledgeable, as he is aware of ancient legends like the Roar of the Elders, and is willing to pass that knowledge on to those around him.
History[]
Backstory[]
Surak was born into the Royal Family of the Tree of Life as the son of Janna and Dayaalu, and the younger brother of Jivin, the heir to the throne. As a cub, Surak was fascinated by myths and legends, and enjoyed hearing about the Roar of the Elders, which had been discovered at the Tree of Life. When Surak reached adolescence, his older brother Jivin was betrothed to Maya, a lioness from the Mwanga Pride. Soon afterwards, Surak was introduced to Nirmala, a lioness that had traveled to the Tree of Life to be trained as a healer. Upon reaching adulthood, Surak and Nirmala married, and Nirmala gave birth to to a daughter named Aminia, followed shortly by a son named Danyal. Surak later witnessed the marriage of Jivin and Maya, and the birth of his niece, Rani. Shortly after Rani's birth, Dayaalu completed his journey in the Circle of Life, which prompted Janna to abdicate the throne, and pass it to Jivin and Maya, who became the new king and queen of the Tree of Life. After the death of his father, Surak grew closer to Janna, and began to look out for her wellbeing. Later, Surak witnessed the birth of his nibling, Baliyo, and the agreement of a peace treaty between the Tree of Life and Leopon Plains.
