“We are one.” - Simba.

Simba is the titular protagonist of The Lion King franchise. He is the current king of Pride Rock and the Sun Pride. He is eight years old, around a middle-aged age for a lion.

Appearance[]

Infant[]

Simba had bright yellow fur, a paler muzzle, underbelly and paws, a few stripes on his head, and a pink nose. After being introduced to the Pridelanders by Rafiki, he had a temporary red mark on his forehead.

Cub[]

As he got older, Simba got bigger and lost the stripes on his head. Despite these changes, he looked exactly like his infant appearance, er, at least pelt wise… His fur also darkened.

Teenager[]

Simba’s fur darkened, and got older. He had a half-grown brown mane on his head.

Adult[]

Simba’s adult appearance has his pelt dull but still pretty vibrant, a red mane, and orange eyes. He also got bigger.

Personality[]

As a cub, Simba was mischievous, playful, and had endless energy. He sometimes boasted he was the next king, and wandered off into danger. Simba was notorious for this personality across the Pridelands.

After Mufasa’s death, Simba had self-pity, grief, and depression. He frequently squashed down his feelings with a “Hakuna Matata” personality, as he grew up carefree and burying the bad memories of his past life. This led Simba to the point he forgot he was the heir of Pride Rock, and had to ascend to Mufasa’s throne. Nala reminded him, but it didn’t work. Simba eventually understood what she meant, running back to his home.

He is a now a happy, wise, serious, and supportive adult lion. Simba still has memories from his past life, which might make him occasionally grieve.

History[]

Infant years[]

Shortly after Mufasa became king and married Sarabi, Simba was born. Simba was determined to be the next king of Pride Rock. Scar was already jealous of Mufasa, but even got more jealous when Simba was announced as a heir.

Cubhood[]

Simba, as a cub, enjoyed exploring which often led him into trouble. He was often watched by Zazu, who was his mentor. Simba was good friends with Nala. He was good friends with Scar, not knowing he was evil. Simba, one day, wanted to go to the elephant graveyard, specifically with Nala and no one else. He lied that it was the watering hole, which Sarabi and Sarafina agreed to. However, to make sure they were safe, Zazu had to come.

Eventually arriving at the elephant graveyard, the trio was trapped by Banzai, Shenzi, and Ed. Mufasa noticed it was late and Simba should have been home. Mufasa heard the cries of his son from the elephant graveyard and ran there. He rescued Simba. Mufasa taught Simba that “The stars are the great lions of the past in the sky, and will watch you. Try not to disappoint them.”.

Mufasa agreed to Scar to teach him to do a better roar. The next day, Simba took a walk with Scar to teach him to do his best roar. Scar was planning to kill Simba, or Mufasa, or better both, so he could be king. Scar left Simba as he roared. Scar gave the signal to the hyenas to chase the water buffalo down to the gorge, which was their plan to kill the king and prince, because they could run over them. Simba found a small tree and climbed on top of it for safety. He didn’t know what caused this. Mufasa came over to rescue him, and did. Scar led Mufasa into his death trap, which he cornered Mufasa to the edge of a cliff. Mufasa dropped a long way down. Simba, taught into the blame, ran away. He passed out from exhaustion near a oasis.

A meerkat named Timon (meaning: respect, honor) and a warthog named Pumbaa (meaning: slow-witted) found him and decided to raise him. They taught Simba to live a “Hakuna matata” life style, which Hakuna Matata means no worries (it actually means No Trouble). They also taught him to eat bugs. Simba grew up a carefree lion.

Teenhood[]

Snail Slurping Contest

In his teenhood, Simba often boasted he won every insect-eating contest he had with Timon and Pumbaa. Upset and determined to show what he’s got, Timon challenged Simba to a snail-slurping contest. While Simba slurped the most snails, thus winning, Timon gave up from eating possibly too much.

Adulthood[]

Simba was strolling one day, when Timon and Pumba were ambushed by a lioness. It got his attention and he attacked the lioness. However, Simba and the lioness stopped. The lioness was Nala, his childhood friend. Simba wondered what she was doing here. The two became friends again, but fell in love. Nala said that Scar was determined to make heirs with her, and that Scar caused a famine. The Pridelands needed to stop Scar. Simba didn’t want to, as he grew up a Hakuna Matata lifestyle, which he forgot who he was. Nala eventually informed Rafiki. Rafiki ran to Simba. He listened to the wise mandrill’s words. Then it came to him, Simba was the next king. Mufasa’s spirit in the clouds told him, “Remember who you are”. Simba ran back to the Pridelands.

Scar got into a battle with Simba and the lionesses as soon as Simba arrived. Scar roared, “I killed MUFASA!” Simba eventually killed Scar within the battle. He became mates with Nala and had Kopa with her. Simba exiled the lionesses that supported Scar, especially Zira, and her son Nuka. He became king. After Simba’s cousin gave his cub, Kopa, for an unknown reason, he mentored it as it if was his own.

As Kopa grew older, Nala had a healthy cub named Kiara. Zira was angry for their exile and brutally injured Kopa. Kopa ran off to be never seen again, until Kopa became a young adult. Simba and Nala were heartbroken, thinking Kopa had died. Although they were already enemies, he became rivals with Zira. Upon Kiara growing up, Simba was extremely protective of her, making sure Zira didn’t kill her. Kion was soon born. When Kiara and Kovu meant, Simba separated his daughter from him. Simba also made Kion the leader of the Lion Guard. However, when Kovu was just about to strike, the Battle Of The Pridelands began. After the battle ended, Kion had to leave for healing.

Kovu was temporarily welcomed into Simba’s Pride before being exiled. The reason why he was exiled is that many of the Pridelanders thought Kovu had caused the ambush which he did not. Kovu eventually wanted to show he wasn’t bad, helping Kiara kill Zira. After that, Kovu was welcomed yet again into Simba’s Pride and not temporarily this time. Kovu became mates with Kiara.

Kion returned temporarily before going to the Tree Of Life.

Trivia[]

  • In the 2018 film Ralph Breaks The Internet, Simba, Timon, and Pumba can be seen in a screenshot at Oh My Disney.
