Note: Some things may not line up with the canon. Examples include: Simba being born earlier, “Scar” plot line being absent for a majority…
“Shenzi’s Journey” is a fanfiction that explains Shenzi’s past and future. It mostly takes place prior to the first film, the famine, and some parts of present day. It is one of the wiki’s graphic novels. It is Super’s first Superverse novel.

Summary[]
Shenzi is a good little hyena. She knows what’s right and knows what is wrong, but her ambition, defense, and power-hunger makes it seem the opposite. After she swears loyalty to Scar, just after her mother runs away, she might not know what’s next. Meanwhile, the hyenas have been periling for as long as anyone can remember. Zuhour has acquired the former throne of Amari, but not everyone is happy with her “selfish” rule, causing them to join sinister Kendi and frightening Ife’s strange group titled “The Coalition”. A charming yet aggressive prince of the Pridelands named Omari has arrived, and Shenzi seems most pleased with his ideas. It breaks the Outlands into three kingdoms. Shenzi runs away to feed Scar after he makes his way up the throne, only leaving more chaos for the First Army. The young hyena teams up with Mosi, who is perfectly annoying, and Charlonda, a dim-witted grass owl. Can the three get along to embark and succeed on a journey to find food-and true friendship?

History[]
“Well, not all lions are alike.” The following paragraphs are real things, not in the fictional Super-Verse.
The book was first hinted on a comment on a post for AU answers, as something “hyenas had more potential”. Eventually, Super announced the fan fiction, and began to give drops of new media. It is the first Superverse Canon graphic novel, and one of the first media releases as a whole. The first page was released soon after the graphic novel finished up the provision state.

Trivia[]
- An AU mentioned in the same comment the series was first hinted might be The Missing King. Super is still considering this, however.
- Charlonda’s role was invented shortly before the idea began, as Super began to grow a love of music and Guardians of Ga’Hoole.
- SuperTapirWoman wants to give Ajayi a short singing role, as he is “the wise elder” of Shenzi’s story.
Early development[]
- Originally, Shenzi was going to leave earlier.
- The Coalition was originally The Rewritten.
- Zuhour, intentionally, was going to be excluded, but was included.
- At first, Mosi was drawn as a spotted hyena, but was later moved to become a striped hyena.
Cultural References[]
- Amari shares similar personalities with Scarlet from the children’s series Wings of Fire.
