Scorpions are arachnids that are closely related to spiders and ticks. A highly nocturnal species, scorpions come out during the night to hunt for small insects and spiders, even their own kind; larger species of scorpions are able to kill and eat smaller vertebrates such as rodents and lizards. The Tanzanian red claw scorpion has a sting as intense as a bee. They live in forests and do not use their stings to capture prey, only for self-defense.
