The relationships of Scar.
Family[]
Ahadi and Uru[]
Not much is known about Scar's relationship with his parents, but it can be presumed that he resents them to a degree. When the Spirits of the Past, Ahadi and Uru among them, came to vanquish Scar with rain, he noticably panicked at the presence of his parents.
Mufasa[]
In their youth, Mufasa and Akili were close brothers, and Mufasa always sought to look after his younger brother and comfort him when he was downhearted. When Akili took up leadership of the Lion Guard, Mufasa supported him and his choices for the Guard. Things between them remained solid until the day where Akili roared a strange lion and cobra out of the Outlands after they deceived him and made him earn a scar on his face. Akili, expecting to be praised by Mufasa, was instead disappointed when he teased him and called him "Scar" for the new mark over his eye. Akili, now rechristening himself with the nickname of Scar, grew to resent his brother and conspired to kill him behind his back. When he asked his Lion Guard to help him slay Mufasa, they refused, causing him to destroy them out of anger, costing him the ability to use the Roar of the Elders. In their later years, tensions between the brothers rose considerably, with Mufasa sensing that his brother wanted to overthrow him or challenge his position as king. To further his vengeful agenda, Scar sought out the help of Shenzi's Clan, who helped him stage a wildebeest stampede in the gorge. Scar never once showed an ounce of remorse or guilt once Mufasa was trampled to death, even suggesting to Simba that it was his fault his father died. During his tyrannical rule of the Pride Lands, Scar made it law that no one could say Mufasa's name around him, as the name enraged him. He even spat at Sarabi that he was "ten times the king Mufasa was." Long after his death, Scar still loathed Mufasa and tells Ushari that he didn't deserve to be king.
Zira[]
Scar was close to Zira, enlightening her with information about the Roar of the Elders and finding her to be charming. When her and her followers showed loyalty to him, he fell in love with Zira and had one son with her, Nuka; he also hand-picked her choice to be his successor, Kovu. After Scar's death, Zira blamed Simba for causing it and would harbor significant resentment toward him and his pride.
Nuka[]
It can be assumed that Scar was not fond of Nuka for being born weak.
Sarabi[]
Sarabi is Scar's sister-in-law, hating her just as much as he hates Mufasa. Despite falling in love with her in his youth, Scar never truly won Sarabi's heart and was dejected when she set her eyes on Mufasa instead. After taking over the Pride Lands following Mufasa and Simba's "tragic" deaths in a wildebeest stampede, Sarabi was shocked and heartbroken, but soon came to realize that Scar was killing off the Pride Lands and destroying the Circle of Life in his rule. When their was nothing left to eat in the Pride Lands, she suggested that they leave Pride Rock, but Scar refused, declaring that he was the king and could do whatever he wanted. Enraged, Sarabi kept her head held high and defied him, suggesting that Mufasa was a better king than him. Scar, livid, struck her on her face and spat that he was "ten times the king Mufasa was."
Simba[]
Scar hated Simba since the day he was born, as he effectively ruined his chances of becoming king for good. He also found the rambunctious cub annoying, and wanting to get rid of him, he encouraged him to venture to the Elephant Graveyard with a young Nala, almost resulting in the hyenas consuming both cubs. Using his manipulative charm, Scar continued to play the role as Simba's "doting" uncle, taking him to the gorge and convincing him that he had a surprise "worth dying for." Unbeknownst to Simba, Scar was actually plotting to kill him and Mufasa in a wildebeest stampede. After Mufasa's death, Scar consoled the traumatized cub and gaslit him into thinking that it was his fault Mufasa died, forcing Simba to run away and never come back to the Pride Lands for his "crimes," sending the hyenas after him for good measure. Years later, when Simba returned as a grown adult to challenge him, Scar painted him as a traitor and as Mufasa's killer, though he was quick to reveal to him that it was actually him who murdered Mufasa. Furious, Simba dueled Scar for the throne after the evil lion refused to step down and flee the Pride Lands peacefully, with Simba eventually sending his uncle to his death at the hands of the outraged hyenas. Seasons after his death, Scar continues to bear a hatred for Simba and his family, deeming him pathetic and desiring to make him pay for robbing him of his chance to be king.
Nala[]
Like his hatred for Simba, Scar also hates Nala. His rule is part of the reason why she fled the Pride Lands to search for Simba. After his death, Scar would continue targeting the members of Simba's family.
Kiara[]
Although he has never interacted with Kiara, Scar hates her and the rest of her family.
Kion[]
Out of all of Simba's children, Scar and Kion have the most advanced relationship, with Scar in particular despising Kion for leading the Lion Guard against him and carrying on Simba's legacy. He consistently finds himself at odds with Kion's forces, pushing forward with his plans despite the losses. During a fire at Pride Rock, Scar appeared and told Kion that the Pride Lands would fall, insisting that he didn't have the power needed to defeat him. He also bolstered the claim that Kion could only ever defeat him if he used the Roar of the Elders at full power. After having Ushari scar Kion in the volcano, Scar declared that they were the same and laughed, attempting to manipulate his great-nephew into believing that he had the Mark of Evil and had to accept his new "destiny." However, light prevailed in Kion, who used the Roar of the Elders to summon the rain needed to vanquish Scar for good, but not before he warned that the Roar was a curse. Despite his death, Kion struggled to differentiate himself from Scar and feared that he would turn evil like he did, though Mhina eventually convinced him otherwise.
Nguruma[]
While Scar and Nguruma have never directly interacted, his forces have used the blind lion as leverage against Kion. It can also be presumed that Scar despises him along with the rest of Simba's family.
Kovu[]
Scar selected Kovu as the heir to the throne after becoming close with Zira and the Outsiders. However, this never came to be, as Kovu rejected his ways and didn't live up to his expectations, instead sticking to the good morals his parents raised him by.
Friends, Allies, and Acquaintances[]
His Army[]
Scar was the leader of his army and was shown to care for them significantly. Even when faced with the army's failures, Scar never unleashed rage upon them, instead opting to keep encouraging them to fight the Lion Guard and Pride Landers. The army also feared failing him, as evidenced by Janja during the hyenas' siege on Chekundu Cliffs, suggesting that Scar was a rather intimidating figure of power to his army.
Ushari[]
Ushari was Scar's second-in-command and his most devout follower. In the Outlanders' quest to take over the Pride Lands, Ushari was the first to suggest summoning Scar. Once he and Janja successfully summoned the evil lion, Ushari would assist Scar in his schemes and listen eagerly, supporting his efforts to destroy the Pride Lands and the Lion Guard. This did not, however, stop Ushari from doubting a few of Scar's plans when they failed, backfired, or went awry, leading him to silently question his master's judgment. Despite the shortcomings, Ushari retained his deep loyalty to Scar, enticed by the tale of his past and eager to learn more from him. After Scar was evaporated by Kion in the volcano, Ushari was incredulous that his master plan had failed and tried to avenge Scar by attacking Kion, only to meet his demise upon being knocked into the lava by Bunga.
The Outsiders[]
While the extent of their relationship is not fully known, the Outsiders were once extreme loyalists to Scar, especially their leader, Zira, who picked the son of Regandi and Merah, Kovu, to be his heir despite the lack of blood relation between them. However, the rogue lions abandoned his beliefs and ways and betrayed Zira, instead unifying with Simba's Pride. Kovu also refused to succeed Scar and joined Simba's Pride.
Enemies[]
Pride Landers[]
Scar bears a hatred of the Pride Landers for supporting Mufasa's rule. Long after his death, he would come face to face with the Pride Landers' uprising against him and his army and did all in his power to stop them, though each and every one of his attempts would fail.
The Lion Guard[]
Originally, Akili had a close bond with the members of the Lion Guard and chose them based on their respective strengths: Omorede as the bravest, Rehema as the fastest, Siwatu as the strongest, and Angani as the keenest of sight. While he appreciated his Guard, Akili preferred to take patrols by himself. After being ridiculed by Mufasa despite stopping Ubaya and Giza in the Outlands, Akili, now Scar, plotted to use his Lion Guard to overthrow his brother as king. However, they refused to partake in such a scheme, and livid, Scar killed them with the Roar of the Elders. Seasons later, Scar would come into conflict with Kion's Lion Guard and sought to destroy them in his quest to take over the Pride Lands, believing Kion would never have the strength to beat him.
Zazu[]
Scar despised Zazu, finding the hornbill irritating and forcing him to appease him while he was trapped in a bone prison during his rule as king. When he enacted his plan to kill Mufasa, Scar knocked out Zazu, knowing that the hornbill would expose his deadly scheme to the pride.
Simba's Pride[]
Following the death of Mufasa, Scar assumed leadership of the pride and was the one to inform them of the old king and Simba's passing, leaving them heartbroken. This would turn to anger and disgust once Scar drove the Pride Lands into a decrepit state and destroyed all food and water sources, causing some of the lionesses to consider rebelling against him or fleeing the Pride Lands. Nala, fed up with his rule, left to find Simba while Sarabi refuted Scar's draconian laws and beliefs. After his death, Scar continued to resent the pride, which was now led by his nephew.
Kion's Army[]
Upon learning that Kion had formulated an army to stop him, Scar, refusing to let his sworn enemies win, initated a hostile takeover of the Pride Lands as revenge. However, this failed, and the Pride Landers ended up defeating his army, causing them to retreat.
Mhina[]
Although the two never properly interacted, Mhina has a huge disdain of Scar and is aware of the lion's evil roots and the destruction he caused back when he was alive. He actively fought his army in the skirmishes that would lead up to the final battle for the Pride Lands. Mhina also helps Kion when he struggles with the conflicting emotions over his scar, reassuring him that what Scar and Ushari did doesn't define him and that he's a far better leader of the Lion Guard than Scar ever was.
Ubaya and Giza[]
Back when he was leader of the Lion Guard, Scar met Ubaya and Giza in the Outlands, and the two presented him with the notion that Mufasa should not be king. Before Scar could properly process this, Giza would give him the infamous scar over his left eye, and Ubaya promised a cure for the cobra venom. Scar, incensed by the betrayal and acting out of fury, used the Roar of the Elders to blast the two out of the Outlands.
