Sarabi is a female lioness from Feather's work-in-progress series Battle of the Prides. She is a member of and huntress for Mufasa's and Kopa's pride and the mother of Nala.
She lived as a member of Mufasa's pride for most of her life, leaving only temporarily to mate with Mpenda. She gave birth to Nala and rejoined Mufasa's pride until the end of his reign. After Scar and his hyenas took over, Sarafina grew uncomfortable and left the pride. On a search for her lost mate Mpenda, she found the Flaming Valley and settled there.
She was an important role model for Kopa when he joined the Flaming Valley, and helped significantly in raising him. Her first appearance is at the Burning of the Shimo, where she attempts to flee from the flames. She is the first lioness to hear of Mkiwa's plan.
Physical Appearance[]
Sarafina is a moderately sized lioness. She has a slender build and cream-colored fur, with a pale muzzle and underbelly. Her eyes are teal.
Personality and Traits[]
Sarafina is a loving mother and friend. She is friendly with the lions of both Kopa's and Mufasa's prides, especially Kopa. She is very laid back, mainly choosing leisure when she isn't hunting or helping the pride.
She is happy with how she currently lives, though she is disappointed that she was unable to find her mate. She partially blames herself for being unable to find him, and wishes she could continue her search for him. However, she recognizes she now has a duty to the Flaming Valley pride.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Sarafina lived in the Pride Lands as a member of Mufasa's pride. At some point in her life, she met a male lion named Mpenda with whom she had a daughter, Nala. When Nala was young, Sarafina agreed with Mufasa and his mate, Sarabi, that her daughter would be betrothed to their son, Simba, and someday become the queen of Pride Rock.
Mufasa's Reign[]
Sarafina lived a mostly peaceful life following Mufasa and raising her daughter, Nala.
One morning, Simba awoke his parents in the royal den of Pride Rock, where Sarafina was sleeping with Nala in her paws. Later, Sarafina bathed Nala while Simba's mother, Sarabi, dozed nearby. Nala asked Sarafina for permission to accompany Simba to the water hole, and, after some persuasion, Sarafina and Sarabi allowed the trip.
Later, after Mufasa died in a stampede, Sarafina listened sorrowfully to Scar's eulogy. She then watched in shock and fear as Scar's hyena allies invaded Pride Rock.
Scar's Reign[]
As Scar's reign destroyed the Pride Lands, Sarafina became increasingly uncomfortable staying. She gradually left Nala to be raised by the other lionesses of the pride before fleeing the Pride Lands. In search of her mate, Mpenda, she found the Flaming Valley and joined the pride of lions living there.
