Story[]
Life was peaceful at the Tree of Life. The bees were buzzing, the flowers were blooming and the birds were chirping. The Tree of Life was a haven for any and all animals who desired healing and sanctuary. And a mighty force, a band of lions called the Night Pride, ensured that.
But, one member of the Night Pride, didn't feel so worthy: Surak. Amongst the rest of his Pride, he was the one who was the most overlooked. Hardly anyone talked to him or interacted with him on a more personal level. This made him feel useless. He felt almost no one, besides his family, wanted to be with him.
One night, the Night Pride were continuing their nightly duties when Queen Rani noticed something innormal: her uncle Surak wasn't behind her. "Hey, has anyone seen Surak anywhere?" she questioned the rest of the Pride. Everyone shook their heads "no", even Nirmala, who was almost always beside him. This concerned the queen deeply. Ever since the death of her grandmother, Queen Janna, Rani vowed to protect her uncle with her life, for he was all she had left of her family, besides her brother, Baliyo.
"Think we should look for him? Or just leave him be?" Bunga piped up. Rani cried out on her mate's shoulder as King Kion gave him a deathly stare. "We do need to find him. Surak!" he called out. Nirmala then heard someone sobbing, but the voice sounded deathly familiar. "It's Surak! Sounds like he's crying?" she informed the Night Pride.
"Crying? Surak? Ha! I'd never thought I'd hear those two words in the same sentence!" Baliyo pointed out. It was true, Surak was the more quiet and reserved one of the Night Pride. But, like any lion, he too had emotions. Anga, the martial eagle, listened closely and noticed that the sobbing was coming from the Tree of Life's entrance.
"Uncle Surak!" Rani cried out as she ran to her sobbing uncle's side. "What's wrong?" she asked as she put her paw on Surak's shoulder. "Your Majesty, I feel unworthy. I feel like I'm not enough to be a worthy prince," the prince explained. "You know, Surak, I know a group whom I think could help you. Why don't we visit them?" King Kion asked his beloved uncle in law. Wiping the tears from his eyes, Surak solemnly agreed.
The Night Pride later went to find Pinguino, Cek, Rama, Tsah and Sasem. "Guys, we're going away and we'll be gone for several days. I trust you five to keep the Tree safe while we're gone," Rani told them. "Never fear, Your Majesty. We'll keep the Tree of Life safe and sound!" Pinguino determinedly promised as he saluted the queen.
Queen Rani winked at the young penguin as she and the rest of the Night Pride began their voyage to the Bamboo Forest. Meanwhile, Domog and his pack were gathering food. They were informed of Sonnesen Khun's planned return and were prepping. Two red pandas, Lemak and Talia, were especially excited. But Talia was also scared.
She had witnessed firsthand how powerful Bunga's stink was, and she refused to be anywhere near it. "It will be okay, Talia. I doubt stink will be required for this occasion. But if it is, I'm here to protect you," Lemak reassured her. A few minutes later, the Lion Guard and the Night Pride arrived in the bamboo forest. The red pandas took their places for the formal greeting. "Greetings, Lion Guard. It is a pleasure to see you again. Ah, I see you brought some friends with you. May you please introduce yourselves?" Domog greeted the group.
"Hello, Domog. I am Rani and we are the Night Pride. This is my friend, Nirmala. And this is my brother and my uncle, Baliyo and Surak," Rani returned the greeting. "Aw! The little guys are so cute!!" Baliyo fawned over the red pandas. Nirmala giggled with delight as Surak stayed completely still and silent.
