Pinguino's Rookery is attacked by Reth's Pride at the Tundra, but they are rescued by the Lion Guard and the Night Pride. At Marsh Forest, Beshte reports that the rookery is safe. When Kion and Mhina spend a day at Icy River, Mhina observes Pinguino and his rookery sliding down an ice slide, showing Kion eagerly, and both marvel over how fast the penguins are going. The two, deciding to try sliding for themselves, head over to the slide. While Mhina slides down effortlessly, Kion slips, and he and Mhina both crash into Pinguino's Rookery, sending the penguins flying in all sorts of directions. Pinguino, irritated, complains that the two could have ruined their ice slide, but Kion and Mhina are too caught up in their fun and run off. During the final battle for the Tree of Life, Pinguino and his rookery are attacked by the predators, but are rescued when Kion uses the Roar of the Elders to defeat them.
