Mufasa was a male lion. He was the son of Ahadi and Uru, the brother of Scar, the mate of Sarabi, the father of Simba, and the former king of the Pride Lands.
He is a deceased character in Legends of the Lion Guard.
Appearance[]
Mufasa is round-featured, lacking the sharp points and jagged edges that make up Scar's face and body. His fur is colored a brilliant golden-orange, similar to the pigment of his son's coat, while his muzzle, paws, and underbelly are all tan in color. His upper eye shades are darker than his main pelt, though his lower eye shades are lighter, and his eyebrows are thick and dark. Regal by every means, Mufasa bears a thick mane of dark scarlet that extends down to his middle chest, the tip of his tail matching it in color. As a sprit in the clouds, Mufasa is shown with a dulled color. He is a well built lion, with orange fur and a creamy peach muzzle and underbelly. His mane is thick and dark red. His eyes are dark reddish-orange, and his nose is pink. He has a square jaw, small eyes, and thin eyebrows.
Personality[]
Mufasa was a wise king, and this trait is still present as a spirit. However, he also is convinced that confidence comes from inside of oneself, not from what others think. He's kindhearted, understanding, and encouraging, always willing to listen to Kion's concerns, and offer helpful advice to boost Kion's spirits. Mufasa, like Kion, Simba, and the rest of his living family, respects and understands the great Circle of Life. He believes that family should always support each other, and that while there are times to back down, true leaders must know when to stand their ground as well.
History[]
Backstory[]
Mufasa was born to Ahadi and Uru, along with his brother, Akili. Ahadi favored Mufasa over Akili, sometimes spoiling him while also training him to be king. Mufasa was soon introduced to Sarabi, and they fell and love and married, becoming the Pride Lands' new king and queen. One day, Akili, who was leading the Lion Guard, returned from the Outlands with a scar on his eye. He told Mufasa that he defeated a strange lion and cobra, Ubaya and Giza, in a fierce battle. As a joke, Mufasa patted him on the head and gave him the nickname of "Scar" because of the new scar donning his eye, which would later become his permanent name. Outraged at not being taken seriously by his brother, Scar attempted to overthrow Mufasa as king, but failed, as the rest of the Lion Guard refused to help him.
This resulted in Scar destroying them with the Roar of the Elders, and the Spirits of the Past punished him by stripping him of the Roar. Eventually, Mufasa and Sarabi had a son named Simba. Mufasa loved Simba and enjoyed teaching him about the Kings of the Past and being brave, and chastising his brother for his behavior. One day, Mufasa was lured to the gorge by Scar after hearing that Simba was caught in a wildebeest stampede. After placing Simba on a cliff, Mufasa tried climbing up the side of the gorge. However, Scar then threw him to his death instead of saving him, ending his reign on the Pride Lands. Simba was also banished, and now a spirit, Mufasa watched as the Pride Lands decayed under his brother's leadership. His ghost appeared to Simba and convinced him to return to Pride Rock, as he is the rightful king. After Simba became king, Mufasa watched as his grandchildren, Kiara, Kion, and Nguruma, were born. He often appears to Kion when he needs advice or help.
