Most monkeys prefer to live in trees, but some, such as the mandrill, live on the open savanna. A monkey's diet includes fruit, leaves, seeds, nuts, flowers, eggs, and small animals (such as insects and spiders). Monkeys are very social animals and it is not odd to find them in large groups.
Red colobuses have red, black and white fur. Their black faces are crowned with long white hair with pink marks on their lips and noses. Their long tails are used for balancing when moving through the trees.
Zanzibar red colobuses live in small to large troops in the rainforests of Zanzibar. They are omnivores that feed on leaves, fruits and insects. They also eat charcoals to neutralize the toxin of the leaves that they feed on.
Snow monkeys have brown-gray fur, red faces, and short tails. Their fur keeps them warm in winter. Some snow monkeys can be found sitting in hot springs, using the warm water to relax them. Like many primates, snow monkeys are omnivores. They eat fruits, nuts, tree bark, soil, leaves, insects, and fish. They are native to the colder regions of Japan.
