Mhina is a teenage male leopon. He is the son of Ajani and Ayo, the brother of Tatu and Kicheko, the adopted brother of Kopa, and the mate of Kion. He is also a member of the Tumaini Pride, the future king of Leopon Plains, and the cleverest member of the Lion Guard.

He is a main character in Legends of the Lion Guard.

Appearance

Infant

As a small cub, Mhina's appearance almost looked the same to what he is now.

Cub/Early Teen

Mhina has a pale tannish brown coat, a lighter tan muzzle and underbelly, and light sky blue eyes. A mask of dark fur rises from his muzzle. He has a diamond mark on his chest, and his rosettes are a light tan color outlined in a darker tan. He has light tan paws, an orange nose, and two sharp white fangs. He has a ridge of tan and brown fur running along his head and upper neck. Like his dad, Ajani, Mhina has freckles.

Teenager/Young Adult

As an teenager, Mhina is more stocky and well-built. His fur color is the same as his younger appearance. He has a scar on his right eye which he gained from Kariuki. He has two pink dots on his leg from a puff adder bite that are hardly visible.

Adult

As he appears as an adult in visions and dreams, Mhina is now thin and lithe. His legs are thin and long, his mane is longer, and his face has narrowed; the chin tapers to the point. His tail is now longer. He is also very tall.

Personality

Mhina is a friendly, jovial, and cheerful leopon who always looks for the best in any situation. When he is with those he loves, he feels more relaxed and at home, knowing that he'll be safe and happy with them. He is also accepting and has room for thought, and allows others to handle things for him if they politely ask. Mhina takes pride in his friends, family, and personal skills, working on improving himself when he is wrong, and gradually grows to accept things, as seen in The New Heroes and Mhina's Tale. Despite his nature, Mhina has times where he lacks confidence and lacks his upbeat nature, getting down about something that personally hurts him, as seen in Mhina's Tale. He is sometimes skeptical of others, and hates feeling replaced. This is shown in The New Heroes.

Mhina is also shown to be a confident and fierce fighter, taking down enemy after enemy without issue. He is proud in his abilities and hardly ever shows self-doubt, showing his tough and resilent exterior. He is also quirky and shares a deep devotion to those he loves, as evidenced by his many conversations with Kion. Mhina is fair and wouldn't even dare put a paw out-of-line. If he makes a mistake, Mhina is quick to fix it and make a situation better. He does not have an issue and doesn't battle conflicting feelings, instead taking the time to sort them out. Mhina is also quite intelligent, and has a sharp mind and memory.

History

Backstory

Mhina was born to Ajani and Ayo, along with Kicheko and Tatu. He would later gain Kopa as an adopted brother. As a young cub, he was raised to succeed his father as the king of Leopon Plains someday. Day and night, he worked hard to prove himself to the Leopon Plains residents, while also traveling with his family to other lands. When he was a cub one day, he met Kion, and they grew to be quick friends. Mhina began to pay regular visits to the Pride Lands, and their friendship grew so much that they started crushing on each other. He also met the other members of the Lion Guard and grew to be acquainted with them. Later on, Mhina helped the Pride Lands in a powerful clash with Scar, now an adolescent. During the fight, he gained a scar on his right eye from Kariuki, startling him but nonetheless drove him to chase Kariuki away. After the battle, he and Anga joined the Lion Guard, and a while after that, he became mates with Kion.
