Maya is an adult female lioness and the queen of the Tree of Life. She is daughter of Ãnanda and Sâhasí, the mate of Jivin, the mother of Rani and Baliyo, and a member of the Night Pride.

She is a supporting character in Legends of the Lion Guard.

Appearance

Maya's pelt is brown, while her muzzle, paws, and underbelly are paler in color. Her eyes are brown. As a member of the Night Pride, she has a lion's head marking on her right shoulder. As the queen of the Tree of Life, she sports a ceremonial painted blue stripe on her forehead.

Personality

Maya is shown to be very serene and pleasant. She is a loving mother, and encourages her children to be the best versions of themselves.

Information

Backstory

Maya was born in the North Lands as a member of the Mwanga Pride, and the daughter of Sâhasí and Ãnanda. As a cub, she gained a reputation for her charitable and kindhearted nature, and strived to provide assistance to any animal in need. Soon, a betrothal was arranged between Maya and Jivin, a prince of the Tree of Life. Maya and her parents moved to the Tree of Life, and joined the Night Pride, a pride of lions tasked with protecting the Tree of Life, and all that inhabit it. Once Jivin and Maya reached adulthood, they married, and Maya soon gave birth to their firstborn cub, a daughter named Rani. Shortly after Rani's birth, Dayaalu completed his journey in the Circle of Life, which prompted Janna to abdicate the throne, and pass it to Jivin and Maya, who became the new king and queen of the Tree of Life. Soon afterwards, Jivin and Maya welcomed a second cub, named Baliyo, and a peace treaty was agreed upon between Leopon Plains and the Tree of Life. When Rani reached adolescence, Jivin and Maya began to prepare her for her future role as queen, and taught her about the customs and traditions of the Tree of Life, and the different lifestyles of each inhabitant.
