Malka was born into his pride to an unnamed lion and lioness. One day, his habit of wandering off led him to the Pride Lands, where he befriended Simba's pride but agitated Simba. After he revealed his true, shyer personality to Simba (having been bragging all day), the two cubs got on friendlier terms. Shortly after this, Malka's mother arrived and took her son home.
When Scar's reign began, he kicked out Tama, Tojo and their mothers from their home pride for rebelling against him. They came across a hunting party from Malka's pride, and the lionesses brought the outcasts to their pride. The mothers and their cubs were gladly welcomed to the pride, welcome to stay as long as they needed.
Tama and Tojo's mothers became huntresses in the pride, while their children tried unsuccessfully to befriend Malka. His parents frequently taught the cub life lessons, and he treasured these lessons. During this time, Tama and Tojo became closer, but the famine worsened conditions around the pride's territory and the Pride Lands. Eventually, Tama and Tojo's mothers succumbed to the famine, which convinced Tojo it was time to return to the Pride Lands. The two bid farewell to the pride and returned home.
Months later, Malka went to the Pride Lands to pay a visit to Tama and Tojo. While staying at Simba's pride, he met and fell in love with Vashti, a member of Simba's pride. They became mates and Vashti took up residence at Malka's pride. The couple would have three sons: Kondo, Afua and Rogue. They often took Afua with them on their frequent visits to Simba's pride, and thus he befriended Kopa. Kondo and Rogue preferred to stay back at their home pride with their grandparents. After Kopa ran away, Afua visited Simba's pride less and less. When the siblings grew up, they stayed close and still lived at their home pride for a while, before going on their own paths and, later, finding mates and having children of their own.
Afua eventually became a permanent member of Simba's pride, becoming mates with Spotty. Kondo met and became mates with Dotty, and Rogue became mates with Kasi. They had four daughters in total: Majuto and Miya (Kondo), Tani (Afua) and Kamaria (Rogue). Currently, Malka and Vashti are yet to meet their grandchildren.
