Legends of the Lion Guard is a series created by Princess ava15.
History[]
The following information is non-fanon. The events and wikia users mentioned are real-world occurrences and individuals.
The series debuted on September 4th, 2018 with The Orphans, which was later re-released on September 18th, 2020. The episode received positive reviews on both of its airings. Later on, the series gained its own official wiki, found here. Eventually, the series began to receive attention from readers, prompting Ava15 to release a film, Legends of the Lion Guard: The Dark Prophecy, which was later re-released with a total of seventeen chapters. In October 2019, it was announced that the two main protagonists of the series, Kion and Mhina, were in a same-sex relationship, which received praise from a majority of the fandom and criticism from others.
When asked about the decision, Ava15 stated, "I wanted to show all different kinds of relationships in my universe." The episode was removed due to complaints about Mhina's portrayal. The episode that showed this relationship, The Young Leader, was later re-instated. The decision to alter Mhina's character was made by Ava15 and her then-boyfriend in response to reviews complaining about his depiction. During this time, Legends of the Lion Guard: Protectors of the Pride Lands was declared a featured page by The Lion King Fanon community. On November 4th, 2019, a spin-off series, Legends of the Lion Guard: A New Journey, was announced, and production began. The first episode, A Special Coronation, aired on January 27, 2020. Shortly after, Mhina was elected as mascot of the series.
Throughout 2020, Sisi, Ava's girlfriend, Nadra, LionGuardFan01, LionkingFan200, and Av began to work hard on the series. In this timeframe, Av also named one of her characters after Amira, which she still considers to be a very personal moment for her. On December 15th, 2020, Season 1 of Protectors concluded with the release of Felines on the Run, allowing production of Legends of the Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands to begin. The full movie was completed on January 4th, 2022, and shortly after, work on The Dark Prophecy began. A full year later, the movie was fully written and concluded on January 31st, 2023. Currently, the production and writing of Protectors Season 2 episodes is in progress. The Rogue Hyena, an episode from Season 1, was re-released for a second time on February 11th, 2023 to correct several consistency errors and improve it.
In late March 2023, five titles under the Legends of the Lion Guard banner were discontinued: The Leopon Legacy, which revolved around Mhina's life as the king of Leopon Plains; the Legends of the Lion Guard remake, a live-action remake of the main series; Tales of Mhina, a series following Mhina as he bonds with Kion and many others across territories; The Journey of Two Siblings, a feature film involving Kion and Nguruma; and Of the Same Leap, a "shipfic" for Kion and Mhina. With the cancellation of Mhina's Rule, a Mhina side-series in August 2023, this leaves A New Journey as the sole remaining spin-off of the main series. A New Journey was also converted to a movie spin-off, and its episodes and season concepts were dropped.
The spring of 2023 was a rough period for Legends of the Lion Guard; all work ceased after reports circulated of issues and mismanagement behind the scenes, and thus, work on Season 2 of Protectors of the Pride Lands stalled. While work did not continue in the summer, efforts to overhaul the series commenced in early August, resulting in the mass purging of characters, partial tweaks to scenes, and changes in character design. The tensions behind the scenes were resolved in September 2023, allowing work to resume as originally intended.
As of 2024, Av is the only person from 2020 to continue to work on the series.

Differences[]
All Series[]
- Jasiri, Madoa, Wema, and Tunu live in the Pride Lands. Jasiri also doesn't lead her own clan; the clan she is a part of is led by her mother, Kubariki.
- Legends of the Lion Guard is set after Simba's Pride.
- Kion has a twin brother, Nguruma. Kiara is an adult instead of being around his age.
- Janna doesn't pass away.
- Dhahabu is the mother of Starehe and Raha.
- Thurston is Muhimu's mate. and they are the parents of Kwato and Hamu.
- Mtoto is Ma Tembo and Zito's son.
- Regandi and Merah are Kovu and Vitani's parents; Merah replaces Zira as their mother. Kovu and Vitani are also not related to Nuka, who is still Zira's son. Nuka's father is also Scar.
- Rani and Baliyo's parents are Jivin and Maya while Ãnanda and Sâhasí are their maternal grandparents. The latter two are also alive and not dead.
- Rani is not the queen of the Tree of Life and is the current heir to the throne. She is mates with Kingiza instead of Kion.
- Kion is the mate of Mhina, not Rani. He is also gay.
- The Tree of Life is located much closer to the Pride Lands.
- The land between the Pride Lands and Theluji Mountains is known as the North Lands.
- Compared to The Lion King: Six New Adventures, Kopa is not Simba and Nala's son and instead is the adopted son of Ajani and Ayo.
- Binga is not a carbon copy of Bunga and has some of her personality traits contradict his.
- Janja is a female, not a male. This fixes an error in The Lion Guard where his clan is shown to be a patriarchy when real hyena clans are led by a matriarch. Instead of Andrew Kishino, she is voiced by Frances Conroy. Her design was also altered to match Shenzi's daytime pallete.
- Tiifu and Zuri are not a part of Simba's Pride and live in the South Lands as members of the Ukweli Pride.
- In contrast to Disney Villains: Scar, Adea, Sofi, and Tish do not live in the Pride Lands and are members of the Ukweli Pride instead of Simba's Pride.
- Scar's birth name is Akili, not Taka or Askari, which were the names used in The Lion King: Six New Adventures and The Lion Guard, respectively.
- Kion grows a full mane as a teenager, which fixes a continuity error in The Lion Guard where he does not age despite the major timeskips in Season 3.
- Some animals who live at the Tree of Life in The Lion Guard, such as Kiril's Herd and Heng Heng, live in Leopon Plains instead, while others live in the Pride Lands.
A New Journey[]
- Kion is the king of Leopon Plains and the mate of Mhina instead of being the king of the Tree of Life and the mate of Rani.

LOTLG is a very interesting take on The Lion King and its sister series, managing to creatively expand and demonstrate backgrounds in unique perspective. Generally, it has great storytelling and is something to appreciate in your spare time. Greenflower The smoke lingers after fire 18:02, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
