“We all revolve around the Circle Of Life.” - to Leah in a lesson. Kovu is a adult male lion. He is a former outsider who was the heir to Scar, despite being adopted. He is the adoptive son of Zira, step-son of Amri, mate of Kiara, step-brother of Vitani, adoptive brother of Nuka, father of Ani, Chimba, and Leah, and the next king of Pride Rock. Kovu currently resides within Pride Rock with the royal family. He is a secondary character in The Lion King: The Next Generation.
Appearance[]
Infant[]
As a small infant cub, Kovu had his dark brown fur, green eyes (a bit brighter though), and a small darker brown swift of hair. He also had a lighter brown underbelly and muzzle. Kovu had some light brown spots on his legs as well.
Cub[]
As a cub, Kovu’s swift of hair turned into a scruff, and he lost the spots on his legs. Kovu’s green eyes noticeably got duller. He also grown some darker brown fur on his legs.
Teenager[]
Kovu got bigger but still looked a lot like his cub appearance. The fur on his legs got bigger as well.
Adult[]
Kovu grew bigger. The scruff on his head formed into a mane. During a argument with Zira, he acquired the mark of evil. However, this had not made him evil due to not being from a cobra (which could have caused a lot more change). The last pieces of his scruff can be seen on the top of his mane.
Personality[]
Kovu was aggressive, crude, and unwelcoming as a cub. When he met Kiara, he only welcomed her with a snarl and Kovu only understood play-fight. He also loved to brag about his independence and survival skills. Kovu was determined to save Kiara from crocodiles and be friends with her, despite the rivalry between their prides. Kovu stood up for Nuka, even if they were bad siblings. He was sometimes afraid of Kiara.
In his teeenage years, Zira beat him down to became a merciless, bloodthirsty killer. After meeting Kiara in his young adult years, he returned to his soft side, and became much less aggressive. However, due to Zira’s training, his dark side would slip in every now and then. He betrayed his first pride for Kiara, as Kovu’s feelings for Kiara were stronger then taking Scar’s place.
Kovu is now a soft, easy-going adult lion as of now, but will threaten to attack if bothered (of course, not towards his family or friends). He is the rival of Kach and Kovu sometimes jokes that he will kill Kach if he threatens the Pridelands one more time, but usually gives mercy quickly after Kach’s sneaky lies.

Infant[]
Kovu was born to a elegant lioness on a full moon night. The elegant lioness had Kovu’s looks, despite the mane. She had strong feelings for Kovu, even if he only drank, ate, and had to be carried. The strong feelings would last for long, even after Zira stole Kovu, as he looked fit for Scar’s heir. The lioness chased Zira and even managed to injure her, only for Zira end up killing the lioness. Zira showed the 2-week-old cub to Scar’s spirit, Scar agreeing to make him his heir. Zira hid this story for years from Kovu.
Cubhood[]
Kovu was trained by his secretly adoptive mother to be mean. He often wondered off alone, upon meeting Kiara. Kovu greeted her with a snarl, only to make Kiara laugh. Soon, a crocodile nearly injured Kiara. Kovu, determined to save her, leaped into action. The two became friends after this.
Teenhood[]
During his teen years, Kovu was mainly kept in the outlands to prevent him meeting Kiara again. He was trained to be cold-blooded, merciless, and bloodthirsty. Kovu grew back into his cub self, but more threatening.
Adulthood[]
After meeting Kiara again, Kovu melted into his current self. Zira, fed up, decided to ambush Simba’s Pride. Kovu began to team with Simba’s Pride, but shortly quit. Zira, yet again fed up, scarred Kovu for what’s Nuka’s believed death and teaming with Simba. The scar was the Mark Of Evil. He went to Pride Rock, only to find a unwelcoming celebration. Kovu was exiled.
Kiara, upset, ran to Kovu, where they reunited and fell in love again. After coming back, another battle took place. Kovu encouraged the battle to stop, which it did. Kovu was officially accepted as Kiara’s mate and into Simba’s Pride. He’s currently the father of Chimba, Ani, and Leah as well as the mate of Kiara.

- Kovu is the third known lion to wear the mark of evil, after Strange Lion, Scar, and before Kion.
