Kitendo is a female mandrill. She is the mate of Fikiri and the mother of Kenene, Makini, and Xolani.
She is a supporting character in Legends of the Lion Guard.
Appearance[]
Kitendo's pelt is gray, while her underbelly is paler in color. Her mane is brown. Her eyes are green.
Personality[]
Kitendo is shown to be very kindhearted. She loves her daughters and son, and is very patient and affectionate towards them.
History[]
Backstory[]
Kitendo was born in the Pride Lands. At an unknown point, she left her family, and began traveling, where she met Fikiri and his brother, Rafiki, who was the Royal Mjuzi of the Pride Lands. She soon fell in love with Fikiri and they became mates, and she also became a close ally of her brother-in-law. Soon, Kitendo had a son, Xolani, and daughter, Kenene. She enjoyed raising them and watched them mature into smart, friendly mandrills like her. She and Fikiri also enjoyed teaching them about culture from the Pride Lands, Tree of Life, and Leopon Plains. Upon Kenene gaining blue stripes on her face, Fikiri and Kitendo took her to the Tree of Life, where Janna approved of her becoming her next Royal Mjuzi after Salamu. Later, Kitendo had another daughter, Makini. She watched as Kenene and Xolani raised their sister like she raised them. When Makini gained her blue stripes like Kenene, she too was taken to the Tree of Life, and Kitendo watched as Janna approved of her becoming Rafiki's apprentice. She is proud of her daughter for working alongside Rafiki, enjoying her daughter put to use the skills she was taught and learned.

Legends of the Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands[]
When Kenene is leaving the Pride Lands, she tells Makini to give her love to her parents and Xolani, which she promises to do. After Scar commences his war on the Pride Lands, Kitendo is one of the many animals gathered at the base of Pride Rock. Later, Rafiki tells Makini that he will discuss with her parents about her going to the Tree of Life.
Legends of the Lion Guard: The Dark Prophecy[]
Kitendo is one of the many animals gathered at Pride Rock when the Lion Guard departs for the Tree of Life. After the Lion Guard, Makini, and Nguruma return home, Kitendo is apart of the crowd that gathers at the base of Pride Rock. Makini rushes up to her parents and Xolani. She embraces the three, and Xolani wraps an arm around her, affectionately ruffling her mane. She excitedly blurts out that Kenene's been training her, mentioning that she's learned a lot and even saw the Blazing Star, causing Fikiri and Kitendo to exchange a warm glance, and Fikiri observes that she's gained much experience from her time at the Tree of Life. Kitendo adds that they're proud of her for continuing her training, certain their elder daughter taught her well. Xolani is confident she'll be a Mjuzi just like her, and nodding, Makini affirms that it's her dream.
