As a cub, he was mature and a sticker to the rules. He is very brave. This is shown first, when he saved Ono’s egg from Janja and the other hyenas when he was infant. He has a natural instinct to protect the pridelands and the Circle of Life. He did have a playful side, often playing with Bunga (the honey badger.) Athough, he had a fear of losing control of the roar and becoming an evil lion like his great uncle, Scar.

When the herd is calm Kion tells them not to run and call for them instead. Seeing this gives Kion an idea to unite the Pride Landers. The guard gathers Ma Tembo's herd, Bupu's herd, Laini's group and Mbeya's crash. The groups of animals do not get off to a great start, so Bunga waits by a tree, while the animals are instructed to race over to him.

Unfortunately, only the galagos complete the task, while the larger animals collapse onto each other. Seeing the animals not get along Kion asks Makuu to teach them how to fight. Bunga, Fuli and Kion train some members of Bupu's herd to work on their kick and Bunga gets kicked in the face. When things don't work out with Makuu he and his float leave. Ono spots the Army Of Scar attacking Makuu's Watering Hole Kion is not sure that the team is ready. Ma Tembo, Mbyea, Laini and Bupu say that they are and they go to fight. After a big battle, Kion uses the Roar Of The Elders and blasts the Outlanders away. Makuu thanks the Pride Landers for their help and says that he will do the same for them in the future if they need.

Ono remembers Rafiki's map and says that the Tree of Life is close by. Kion says to head for the mountain pass but Fuli thinks they should wait until morning. Kion says he will not feel better until he gets to the Tree of Life. Bunga spots a beehive and tries to go and eat the bees and the honey. Kion tells him not to climb and Bunga causes a rock slide. Kion gets mad at Bunga for blocking the way to the Tree of Life until he notices Bunga is trapped underneath the rubble.

Soon, a group of lions called the Night Pride investigate the disturbance caused by the rock slide. A lion named Baliyo believes the Lion Guard is hostile and attacks Kion. Soon, the whole Night Pride comes to attack the rest of the guard. Kion uses the Roar of the Elders on Baliyo and sends him flying. Fuli says that Kion is out of control and Rani rudely interrupts and pounces on him. After introducing herself, Kion tries to calm her down saying that all they're doing is going to the Tree of Life. Rani can only imagine the damage that he can cause and tells Kion he and his friends will never be welcomed to the Tree of Life. The Night Pride departs and Fuli suggests getting Bunga out from under the rocks afterwards. Kion goes for a walk alone and worries about what he has done singing Kion's Reckoning. Kion is glad Bunga is out of the rocks but is uncertain if they can get to the Tree of Life. The rest of the guard says to go and talk the to the Night Pride and Ono says they will not give up. The Night Pride comes back after being told by Janna to welcome the Lion Guard and they're surprised to see the Guard clear the path while not attempting to go any further. Kion owes Rani an apology for using his roar and asks if Ono at the very least can make it to Tree of Life because his eyes need healing. After taking a look at Ono, she says they're all welcomed to the Tree of Life. Baliyo asks Kion to not roar at him again and Kion promises. The guard makes it to the Tree of Life soon enough.

As requested, Rani brings the Lion Guard to her grandmother Queen Janna. Queen Janna asks if Kion and Ono were to step closer. She knows that they have the Mark of the Guard and that they're from the Pride Lands. Queen Janna is happy that the Roar has returned to the Pride Lands. She asks Nirmala to take a closer look at Kion and Ono. She says Ono's remedy will take a few days to make ready. Queen Janna says Kion's healing will take time and have patience. Nirmala takes Kion outside of the Tree of Life. She takes Kion to "The River of Patience" and that it's the first of many steps to his healing journey. She asks if Kion were to bring the orange flower to her by hopping on a log jump on the sandy bank. Then, all of a sudden, he takes the winding path to the top of the ridge. Kion asked if he could swim across the river Nirmala says the fast way is not the best way. Kion decides to wait for the log and tries it Nrimala's way. Kion sees a log and tries to hop on. Although he falls into the water. Nirmala tells him to try again. Soon, Rani comes asking for Nirmala's help. Kion asks if they need him but she tells him to stay at the river. The Guard comes to check on Kion. Fuli says the Night Pride might need their help. They all go off to find the Night Pride. After chasing off the villains, the Guard runs into the Night Pride. Kion says they came to help, but Rani tells him the bad guys are gone. Rani tells Kion to stay out of their way while she's defending the Tree of Life. Once hearing who the bad guys, Kion says they followed them here. He had no idea they were following them. Kion and Rani go and talk to Queen Janna and Rani says they should have never let the Guard in. Janna tells Kion to let the Night Pride do the defending and he can get healed. As Kion sees another log, he falls into the river again. Nirmala tells him to try again. Kion does not pay attention to her and tries to swim across the river. Kion falls down the rock path and asks why Nirmala didn't get the flower. She said it was his task and it's almost for her to go on patrol. She tells him to get to sleep and they'll try again tomorrow. Kion talks to his friends and Fuli says he can do anything once he puts his mind to it. The next morning, Kion tries again to get the flower. Soon, Ullu comes and says the Night Pride needs Nirmala's help. She tells Kion to stay at the river and finish the task. After getting the flower, Kion helps Rani and the Night Pride fight Makucha and his army. Kion tells Nirmala he crushed the flower. She said the flower wasn't the point of the task if only she had him finish the task. Bunga asks if Kion is done healing and Nirmala says there's still a long way to go

Rani tells Kion that she could use his help to maintain peace at the Tree of Life. Kion replies that she doesn't need anyone's help with that since she's already a great leader. Rani thanks Kion for the compliment and says that she wants to be a great Queen as well and that a great Queen could use a great king and floats the idea of Kion being her King and mate. Before Kion can answer, the guard arrives and they're wondering why they haven't departed yet? Rani wishes that they would consider staying and most of the Lion Guard are open to the idea except for Fuli who is reluctant.

The contest is witnessed by the entire Pride Lands. The contest is a best of 5 challenge between both Lion Guards, where the members that represent their roles on the team (Fiercest, Bravest, Fastest, Strongest, and Keenest-of-Sight) face off against each other to see which is better at their role. Since Ono's role is the Smartest and that role is not in Vitani's Lion Guard, Ono acts as the referee for the contest.

With the contest tied at 2-2, Kion and Vitani have to face each other with Vitani calling for a mashindano. Kion tells Vitani that she's no match for him when he has the roar and she tells him that she's fierce enough to lead the Lion Guard without the Roar. Kion remembers what Askari told him that only one who can let go of the roar completely can truly master it. Kion then forfeits the last challenge saying that Vitani proved she was the fiercest by challenging him despite not having the roar. Vitani's Lion Guard wins the contest and Kion gives the Mark of the Guard to Vitani along with the ability to use the Roar of the Elders. Due to that, Kion and the old Lion Guard lose their Marks of the Guard which depresses them.

Hevi Kabisa
―Kion’s catchphrase

King Kion is a male African lion (part Asiatic) who is the King of the Tree of Life and a member of the Night Pride. He was formerly the leader of the Lion Guard and a prince of the Pridelands and Simba’s Pride. He is the third born son of King Simba and Queen Nala, the younger brother of Prince Kopa and Princess Kiara, mate of Queen Rani and the father of Prince Raja, Princess Janya and Prince Moto II.

Description

Overall Appearance

Kion had golden fur and brown eyes from his grandfather, Mkali. He also have a bright scarlet mane and tail tuft. His nose is dark brown. His underbelly, muzzle and paws are lighter in colour. He has black and brown ear rims. He has a scar on his right eye. He has a "boomerang" shaped blue marking to signify his position as the King of the Tree of Life on his forehead, and an orange Night Pride mark on his right shoulder, due to him being a member of the Night Pride.

Infant

Kion as an infant had lots of spots on his fur and had a tiny pink nose. His large eyes were brown. He also had a tiny red mane tuft on his head.

Cub

Kion as a cub had lost his spots on hismdy and is now only on his legs. His nose changed into a dark reddish brown colour. His mane tuft was a bit larger than when he was an infant. He beared an orange Mark of the Lion Guard on his right shoulder.

Adolescent

Kion, as a teennager, had very faded spots on his legs. He beared a two strike scar on his right eye from Ushari (a cobra) under Scar's commands. His mane tuft also had grown much larger. After becoming a member of the Night Pride (instead of Lion Guard leader), Kion beared an orange Night Pride mark on his right shoulder instead of the Lion Guard mark. After becoming the king of the Tree of Life by marrying Queen Rani, Kion now beared a blue marking on his forehead, to signify his position as King.

Young Adult

Kion, as a young adult had lost all of his spots. He also now had a full mane. His nose color had changed to brown (without the red tint.)

Personality

As a cub, he was mature and a sticker to the rules. He is very brave. This is shown first, when he saved Ono’s egg from Janja and the other hyenas when he was infant. He has a natural instinct to protect the pridelands and the Circle of Life. He did have a playful side, often playing with Bunga (the honey badger.) Athough, he had a fear of losing control of the roar and becoming an evil lion like his great uncle, Scar.

As a teenager, he was nervous about the final battle against Scar’s Ghost. He didn’t know how to defeat him. When he got a scar from Ushari, his fear of becoming evil burns stronger inside him than normal. Ushari’s venom made it hard for him to concentrate, and made his heart race. This caused him to be very inpatient and lose his temper often, unless he is calmed by the effects of Makini’s Tuliza flowers.

When he met Rani, at first he was enemies with her, but eventually he falls in love with her. Nirmala (A Night Pride warrior) tested him at the river of patience, to make him more patient. Then she made him reflect on his past, which causes Ushari’s venom to almost completely go away. He met Askari’s spirit, one of his ancestors and the first leader of the lion guards. He taught him to control his roar, and use it to great power, which causes Kion to “master” it. This causes him to be calm again and never lose control of his roar again. Ushari’s venom is completely gone, although the scar still remains.

When he returned, he was excited to see Simba, Nala and Kiara again. He was confused why outsiders like Kovu was allowed in the Pridelands. And Kiara explained that they joined her pride. Kion met with Vitani and her new Lion Guards. Vitani became the new leader of the Lion Guards, and Kion and his friends lost that status due to not being in the Pridelands in a long time. Some time later, Kion married Rani and became king of the Night Pride.

When he met his older brother, Kopa (who had gotten back after his long expedition in a faraway lands with other members of the Night Pride) He was astonished to see him, after believing for a long time that he was dead.

History (The Lion King Epic Trilogy)

Infanthood

Episode 13: We are One

Prince Kion was born to King Simba and Queen Nala sometime after her older sister, Princess Kiara's adventure to the Outlands. This occurred about 5 months after Prince Kopa supposed 'death' by being 'murdered' from Zira. Baby Kion was then seen learning how to walk with her mother and father, tripping over once.

Episode 17: Jasiri's Hyena Resistance

In a flashback, Prince Kion and Bunga were running through the Pride Lands before being stopped by Zazu, who reminds him that Kion was supposed to stay put. Kion tells Zazu that they're on an adventure, but Fuli cries out and speeds past before he can continue. When Fuli won't slow down for the hornbill, he takes off after her, allowing Kion and Bunga to continue, with Zazu unaware that the pair have left.

The pair of friends run into a lake, where Pua's float are resting. Kion is cautious, but Bunga proves to Kion that he's not afraid, by stepping forward and ordering the crocodiles to move aside for them. Makuu and Pua wonder who the cubs are, and, when even Kion warns the float against messing with them, Pua orders them to leave. Makuu asks if they meant to challenge him and Bunga replies that he will, and straight after asks what 'challenge' means. The crocodiles surround the cubs, and despite Kion's best efforts, he is unable to ward off the crocodiles.

Zazu confirms that Kion is the King's son, much to their surprise. But Makuu also states that they initiated a challenge, and Pua backs his float member up, telling him of how Simba respects the crocodile ways. Zazu also confirms his respect for their ways, and leaps into Makuu's open mouth, telling the crocodiles that he is responsible for Kion and will take his place. Seeing his bravery, Pua allows Zazu to live, and warns the cubs not to come to their area again. Zazu then ushers Kion and Bunga to leave before Pua changes his mind.

Episode 26: Of the Same Pride

In a flashback, Kion, Bunga and Beshte were playing in the water when Fuli comes up to them. She says there's a hyena stealing an egg. Kion and the rest of the guard go to stop a younger Janja, Cheezi and Chungu. They rescue the egg and Ono hatches out of the eggs. Little did he know that they would become great friends one day.

Cubhood

Episode 14: Return of the Roar

Prince Kion and his best friend, Bunga are playing on Pride Rock, where Kion's father, the ruler of the Pride Lands, Simba, is teaching his daughter Kiara a lesson about her future role as Queen of the Pride Lands. Kion and Bunga's game of Baobab Ball gets in the way of his lesson, much to his sister's dismay. After Simba points out the importance of the lessons, the two take their fun into the Pride Lands to avoid further disturbances.

The two continue playing their game across the plains, but soon the baobab fruit rolls off into the Outlands. Kion is hesitant to go down, explaining that his father strictly forbid him from going there. Bunga, on the other hand, has no fear of the Outlands, and gladly leaps down. However, shortly after reclaiming the fruit, two hyenas - Cheezi and Chungu grab Bunga, and plan to give him to their leader, Janja, for his lunch. Worried for his friend's safety, Kion lets loose a huge roar, which leaves the hyenas in shock, and gives Bunga a chance to climb back to safety. Bunga is curious as to how his friend produced such a roar and Kion admits his own confusion.

Meanwhile, Simba, Nala, and Rafiki overhear the Roar. Simba at first does not believe that his son is ready, with him being still a little cub. Kion and Bunga then arrive back at Pride Rock. Simba and Rafiki lead them both to a secret lair, hidden within Pride Rock, The Lair of the Lion Guard. Simba explains to his son that his granduncle possessed the Roar of the Elders, and that he lost it by using it for evil by destroying his Guard. He also explains that it is now his turn to lead the Guard, and that he must assemble the fiercest, bravest, fastest, strongest and keenest of sight.

Kion doesn't hesitate to begin his mission, and immediately selects his best friend Bunga, claiming that he doesn't know anyone braver than him. As Bunga rushes to tell his uncles, Kion follows. He meets up with his sister, and tells her about his new duty, and listens to Bunga singing Zuka Zama before begging Timon and Pumbaa to let Bunga join the Guard.

Kion assembles a group, which he believes best fit the criteria for being a member of the Lion Guard. This includes Fuli, the cheetah, Beshte, the hippopotamus and Ono, the egret. Fuli wishes to see the Roar of the Elders, to which Bunga encourages his friend to show her the roar. Kion is hesitant, as he does not wish to abuse his power like Scar had. However, when he attempts to use it just for this occasion, all he can manage is a tiny squeak. Simba then arrives to see the new Guard, but soon tells Kion that the Lion Guard has always been made of lions, mistakenly thinking Kion is treating his new role like a game instead of taking it seriously.

Kion, needing to be alone, wanders around the Pride Lands, singing. A voice calls him from the clouds, and Kion peers up to see his grandfather, Mufasa there. Kion conveys his concerns to the Great King of the Past, believing that he is not ready for the responsibility yet, as well as his fear of turning out like Scar. Mufasa tells Kion to believe in himself, and promises to watch over and guide him before vanishing.

Bunga calls Kion, and tells him that the hyenas are attacking the gazelles. Kion and Bunga rush off to find the rest of the Lion Guard. Once they are all together, Kion places his paw on each of his friend's shoulders, to give them the Mark of the Guard.

The Guard quietly make their way down to the gazelle's grazing grounds, before launching a surprise attack with Kion at the front of the group. With Ono taking care of Mzingo, the rest of the group focus on the hyenas. The hyenas soon start to make a desperate retreat. Simba, Nala, Tiifu and Rafiki arrive just in time to see the new Lion Guard chase the hyenas away.

Although they assume that their work is done, it turns out that Kiara is still in danger. Kion quickly starts to wonder what they could do, though Bunga soon tells him that he can deal with it along with Fuli. Kion tells Ono to go find Kiara, while Bunga manages to clear the gazelles away with a giant fart, rescuing Kiara in the process.

With Kiara safe, the Lion Guard approaches Janja's clan. As Janja taunts Kion, the lion cub makes it clear that the Lion Guard is there to defend the Pride Lands and its inhabitants. He performs the Roar of the Elders, and the hyenas scramble back to the Outlands. After witnessing the whole event, Rafiki assures Simba that he is ready. As Kion and his Guard walk back to Pride Rock, Simba is happy to accept the new Lion Guard, acknowledging that it is now their time to take on this role, and defend the circle of life.

Episode 15: Christmas in the Pridelands

Beshte arrives just in time to save Timon from falling to the ground from the top of a decorated acacia tree, arriving at the same time as Kion, Fuli and Ono. They wonder what Timon, Pumbaa and Bunga doing, and Bunga explains that it's Christmas. He and his uncles start to explain a bit more about the tradition, including how a mysterious character known as Dandy Claws is also said to appear and give presents to others. They sing about Christmas in the Pride Lands, but after the song, Timon admits that Dandy Claws will never come, since he requires a special song to be sung at the bottom of the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. With Bunga and Pumbaa unable to cheer Timon up, the Lion Guard decide to continue their patrol.

Noticing Bunga is upset, Beshte coaxes the reason out of him, and he tells them how he wishes he could make Dandy

Claws appear to make Timon and Pumbaa's Christmas truly special. Kion suggests that maybe they can, and reminding his friends that the Lion Guard can make the impossible possible, persuades them to agree. After listing everything needed to the Guard, Kion is certain they can do it if they split up.Kion speaks to his family about performing and even requests that his sister gets her friends Zuri and Tiifu involved, though Simba is hesitant. After both Kiara and Nala do a bit of persuading, he eventually agrees, if only because he feels that he owes it to Timon and Pumbaa for all they have done for him throughout the years. Kion wishes his family a Merry Christmas before leaving to get the rest of the job done.

That night under the Christmas tree at Hakuna Matata Falls, Simba, Nala, Kiara, Tiifu and Zuri arrive, and Kion guides them to the rehearsals in a nearby canyon. With Bunga struggling to organize the group and with none of the animals even remembering Dandy Claws to begin with, Ono states that it's going to be a long night.

Sunrise comes, and whilst Kion is impressed, Bunga believes that they need more time. The animals are certain that they won't be able to memorize it and start to leave. Bunga is crestfallen, but Kion calls for the animals to stop. Simba returns, asking what is so important about Christmas. Bunga explains that he just wants to make his uncles happy as his way of saying "thank you" for all the things they have done for him, and Simba accepts this as a good answer, calling for everyone to try again.A little later, Kion waits for Bunga to get Timon and Pumbaa. When he does

so, he sings "The Twelve Ways of Christmas" with the rest of the Guard. After the performance, Timon and Pumbaa break down in tears of joy, thanking everyone for their efforts. Although Bunga is upset that Dandy Claws never arrived, Kion and the Guard become excited when they see a character dressed up with a white fluffy beard. However, it turns out to be Pumbaa, just acting for Timon. Timon is touched, and expresses his gratitude to be surrounded by such loving friends and family. Impressed by how well the day turned out, the Guard all agree that they should celebrate Christmas every year, and wish everyone a "Merry Christmas".

Episode 16; Scar's Return

Kion and Mufasa talk about the hardships of both seasons, and Kion promises to keep the Roar under control. As he is leaving, a young mandrill named Makini emerges from the bushes, startling him. Makini introduces herself, and states her knowledge of Kion speaking with Mufasa. Kion quickly shushes her, explaining that Rafiki's abilities must be kept secret. Ono arrives, and tells Kion of the reappearance of Janja and his clan, who are targeting the baboons that have begun to follow the elephants. Kion bids goodbye to Makini, and follows Ono.

He regroups with the Guard, and Kion instructs Ono to lead the baboons and elephants to a canyon, which would trap the hyenas. He climbs up to a cliff, and prepares to use the Roar. Before he can, Fuli draws his attention to the darkening storm clouds above them, Kion calms down, and uses the Roar. He questions the baboons, and Ono explains that the baboons always follow the elephants to new water sources in the dry season. Ma Tembo confirms Ono's statement, and Kion asks if she's okay with it. Ma Tembo states her responsibility and role in the Circle of Life. Kion wishes Ma Tembo luck on finding water, and the Guard leaves. Beshte expresses his wish to do something to help, and Kion agrees, but reminds them of Ma Tembo's responsibility as a leader, and their own of defending the Pride Lands. He glances back, and notices the large crowd surrounding Ma Tembo. Kion then decides to inform his father of the situation.

At Pride Rock, Kion meets up with the rest of the Guard in the Lair as Rafiki introduces Makini. Rafiki asks Kion to assemble the rest of the family, and Kion rushes out. As Kion and his family wait on Pride Rock, Nala expresses her eagerness to meet Makini, and questions her son. Kion responds that the young mandrill is very talkative. Kiara questions upon the success of Ma Tembo's search, and Kion sates the results of Ono's latest report. Kiara asks her parents for permission to help Ma Tembo, insisting upon trying when Kion reminds her of the probability of being unable to. As Simba and Nala agree, Makini eagerly approaches the group, after introducing herself, asks to accompany Kiara. An irritated Rafiki arrives, and scolds Makini, stating that he was supposed to do the introduction. When Tiifu and Zuri question it, an annoyed Kion explains what Rafiki meant. Rafiki officially introduces Makini, and Kion watches as his parents greet her with warmth. Simba and Nala give their blessing for Makini to accompany Kiara, and Kion wishes his sister luck.

A little later, Kion and the guard is alerted by Makini that Janja and the hyenas took Kiara; Makini blames herself for what happened, but Kion comforts her by saying she can't blame herself for what Janja did and he leads the Guard away. He is told by Ono that the hyenas are taking Kiara to the Outlands. The cub figures out that Janja wants something from him or his dad. Bunga assumes that the rescue will be easy but Kion reminds the honey badger that he can't use the Roar on them if Kiara is surrounded, so Kion plans to lure the hyenas away while the others rescue Kiara. He enters the Outlands and comes face to face with Janja and announces that he came for his sister, but the hyena doesn't want to let her go because he has demands. When he asks what the hyenas demands are, all Janja says is that he wants Kion and the Guard to leave them alone to which the cub finds a terrible idea and, when, Ono reports back saying that Kiara is safe, Kion says to Janja that he is beaten again.

But, Janja doesn't let that phase him and he firmly claims that they'll keep coming after everyone Kion cares about and there's nothing he can do about it. Giving in to his anger, Kion lets loose the Roar of the Elders causing the volcano to erupt. Although he and Guard make out of the Outlands to safety, Kion feels disappointed with himself because he let the hyenas get to him and used the Roar in anger. Fuli comforts him saying that they all made it out okay, even Kiara. Kion takes pleasure in that everyone is okay and also that nothing bad happened. However, they're unaware of the evil that was unleashed.

Kion and the Guard meet up with Ma Tembo again who is still searching for water and once she finds the water source, the Guard helps with the digging and spring water comes out. Kion praises Ma Tembo for a good job and Ma Tembo thanks him and reminds him that despite going through the frustrations of being a leader the important thing to do is never quit and Kion watches with joy as the Pride Landers drink.

Episode 17: Jasiri's Hyena Resistance

Kion and his guard are battling against Kiburi's float and Janja's clan. Jasiri is peaking and watching near by. After wining the battle Bunga tells the guard that he has been working on some of Rafiki's moves he tries to do it but falls down. Jasiri comes by surprising Kion Bunga goes to save him but Fuli notices that it's Jasiri right away.

Jasiri tells Kion that she's been noticing all the Outlanders have been working together.

Kion says that Scar is back and asks for her clan to stay in the Pride Lands until they defeat him. Jasiri doesn't take his offer and has a plan to help the guard. She sets up a Hyena Resistance in the Outlands. She reminds her clan about Kwetu Ni Kwetu and that the Outlands is their home and how must protect it. The Lion Guard return to the Pride Lands, commenting on the Hyena Resistance. However, Bunga's pains are still present, and Kion suggests again that he visits Rafiki. Madoa goes up to the Lion Guard and tells them about Scar's newest plan. She explains on how Scar is planning on having a three-sided attack at Mizimu Grove with Janja's clan being in the lead. Jasiri and her clan stop them before they reach the Pride Lands with a rock side blocking the entrance. After winning many battles the skins find out that Jasiri is working with the Lion Guard. Scar orders his army to go after Jasiri's clan. After no bad guys show up at Mizimu Grove Kion starts to wonder if they're coming he asks Ono to take a look.

Ono explains how they're surrounding Jasiri and her clan the guard goes to rescue them. After having enough Kion uses the Roar to blow them away. Janja is hanging on for life in a steam bent Jasiri goes to save him. Jasiri asks him to the Resistance but he refuses. Kion invites the hyenas to come into the Pride lands but Jasiri says she will hide from Bunga explains how the stick was blocking him from doing Rafiki's moves but he falls on his back again. The guard laughs and heads home.

Episode 18: Pridelanders Unite

Bupu's herd is stampeding because they thought they saw a jackal. Boboka runs into Laini's tree and the galagos start runing too. Kion asks Bunga to grab the galagos and put them away from the herd.

Teenagerhood

Episode 20: Battle of the Pridelands

Kion speaks with the Lion Guard knowing that as long as they're around, the Pride Lands won't end. Soon Anga arrives saying that the Outlanders are attacking so the guard goes to fight them off again. A year later after defeating Scar's army several times Kion and the guard have started to grow up. He uses his roar when Simba and Rafiki come up. Rafiki says that the roar is getting stronger as Kion gets older. Simba says that it's time to defeat Scar once and for all. They come up with a plan and gather the Pride Landers. Later that night Zazu says that Shujaa and Hadithi have came to help. Kion starts to worry if there's no way to ever defeat Scar. Simba tells him to get some rest. He and the guard start singing that tonight is there final night before defeating Scar.

Shortly after that Kion speaks to his grandfather Mufasa. He is worried that there's no way to defeat Scar. Mufasa says not to fight fire with fire. Later Janja's clan follows Scar's orders to lure the Lion Guard into their lair and distract them so they won't leave. But Scar has the other outlanders set fire to Pride Rock so that the Lion Guard and Janja's hyenas (whom Scar suspected were about to defect from his army) are burnt to death. Janja barely escapes in time and realizing that Scar betrayed him, goes to Jasiri for help. However Beshte finds a way out of the lair by having the guard and Janja's hyenas go into his pool and swims out the underground entrance.

Soon Scar appears on top of Pride Rock and says that Kion is gone. But he and the guard shows up and Scar says that there's no way to defeat him. He soon vanishes but the herds start to worry. Janja soon comes and says that he knows a way to defeat Scar. He says that Kion should use his most powerful roar on him in the caldera. The set up the plan and gets some rest.

The next morning Kion and the Guard lead the herds to Outlanders. They fight against Reirei's pack, Kiburis' float and Mzingo's vultures. Kion and the Guard go inside the volcano while the rest of the Pride Landers fight the army.

They soon reach up to Scar in the Caldera where he commands Ushari to strike at Kion. Ushari bites Kion on his left eye which gives Kion a noticeable scar. Kion says that he'll never be like his evil great uncle while trying to resist the effects of Ushari's venom. But Scar says that they're the same and there's no other choice other than Kion becoming evil. Kion is reminded of what his Grandfather told him and thinks of another choice and forgives Scar for what he's done, much to Scar's surprise. Kion then tells Scar that only the Great Lions of the Past can judge Scar for his actions. Kion then blows a puff of air into the sky which summons the Great Lions of the Past to make it rain on Scar. Scar's spirit dissolves and warns Kion that the Roar is a curse with his last words. Ushari furiously charges at Kion but Bunga tackles him and they both fall into the lava. Ono manages to grab Bunga out of the fire while Ushari meets his fiery demise. With the lava hardening into igneous rock, Kion knows that they have won.

Episode 22: Journey to the Tree of Life

Kion and the Lion Guard come outside and the Pride Landers cheer. The Outlanders are still upset but Janja says that Jasiri must be in charge. The Outlanders take to it well enough that Kion knows the threat is over. But they soon notice that Ono can't see properly. After thanking Jasiri for everything, they go to Rafiki to help Ono.

On their way to Rafiki's, Kion looks at his reflection in a puddle and sees his new scar for the first time. Kion becomes troubled that he's destined to be evil just like Scar. But Anga tries to get Kion to keep going, but the venom from the scar irritates Kion and he roars at Bunga by accident which sends Bunga flying. The Guard, especially the poor-sighted Ono is startled by what happened, but believe Kion when he tells them it wasn't on purpose. Kion owes Bunga an apology and he says not to worry about it, just warn him next time so he can really enjoy it. While examining Kion, Rafiki listens to Kion's heart and hears it beating rapidly. He tells Kion to chew on Tuliza leaves in order to calm himself down while warning him the Tuliza is not a cure. Kion's family comes to see him and they become inconvenienced when they see Kion's scar. Rafiki tells them the venom from Ushari's bite can alter Kion's personality to the point where Kion can't tell the difference between right and wrong. He also tells them that he can't cure Kion which terrifies Kion's family. However, Rafiki tells them it's possible for Kion's scar to be healed if he goes to the Tree of Life which might heal Ono's eyes as well. Anga soon becomes the new Keenest-of-Sight while Kion gives Ono the new title of the Smartest. Now with six members on the Guard they leave the Pride Lands. Nala and Simba wish them good luck and hope they can come back before Kiara's first hunt. The Guard leaves with the Pride Landers wishing them goodbye. Kion talks to Thurston who says that the zebras will protect the Pride Lands while they're gone.

During the journey to the Tree of Life, they endured a harmattan, went through Bamboo Mountain and met a pack of red pandas and went through Hot Spring Mountain and met a troop of snow monkeys. They also went through a marsh, with Bunga delightfully eating the snails. They went pass Dragon Island where they met evil komodo dragons and a energetic dolphin. Finally they passed a desert, which caused Kion to lose control even more due to Ushari's venom in his scar. The episode left off, with Kion and his guard travelling through a very rocky area with the mountain pass, what Tree of Life was behind, in the distance.

Episode 24: Welcome to the Tree of Life.

Anga spots the last moja kwa moja stone and Kion asks how long it'll take to get around the lake. Anga says it's big and can take all night. Bunga suggests that they can walk across the lake while Ono says they should test it first. Kion says Bunga is right and it is the fastest way to go. Beshte's weight soon causes the ice to start breaking apart and Kion tells everyone to run. Makini gets stuck on the ice and falls into the water but Kion manages to rescue her in time. They find the last stone and Kion asks for Tuliza, but Makini dropped her staff into the lake and can't help Kion's symptoms or verify the last moja kwa moja stone.

Episode 25: Long live the Queen

Kion comes with Nirmala and sees the rest of the Guard relaxing. Kion has mud on his face to which Nirmala says it helps treat the venom. He asks if he can take the mud off and puts his face in the lake. Nirmala says Kion is making progress, but still he has a long way to go. She also says it is time for Ono to begin his healing and takes Ono to the Tree of Life as Ono is as fired up as ever. Fuli gets irritated with Bunga for chewing while Baliyo says it's quiet. He says he knows another honey badger: his friend, Binga, and brings Bunga to meet her. Later, Kion and the rest of the Guard goes to see Ono get healed. While Bunga thinks of another honey badger challenge, he runs off to find Binga. Soon, Rani and Nirmala run into Kion at the Tree of Life. Kion asks if they're planning to see Ono's healing too and Rani says she's introducing her new guest to Queen Janna. However, the new guest is actually Mama Binturong hiding her identity since the only member of the Lion Guard to ever see her was Bunga. Ono gets healed and is excited to see again soon enough. He sees Bunga is missing and they find him. Kion stays behind to continue his healing with Nirmala. Later, that evening, Ullu comes to warn the Guard about Makucha, Chuluun and Ora. Ono figures out it's a trick, and Mama Binturong is working with them. Kion asks Ullu to warn Rani and the Night Pride. After fighting Makucha's army, Rani expresses her gratitude to Ono for his help. Kion says Ono is the keenest of insight.

A few days later Makucha's Army is attacking a family of tigers; Kion, the Lion Guard and the Night Pride come to their rescue. After Makucha's army is dealt with, Ullu appears telling Rani and the Night Pride Queen Janna wants to see them along with Kion. As they

approach the Tree of Life, Rani sees a group of animals surrounding the Tree and Rani realizes Janna is about to pass away. Baliyo does not want to go in, but Rani and the Night Pride offer him emotional support. Queen Janna asks for Kion and tells him that she's glad to see the roar return to the Tree of Life. She tells Kion she hopes he'll find peace and possibly choose to stay. Then, all of a sudden, Janna gives Kion the Mark of the Night Pride which quickly disappears on his body. Kion expresses his gratitude to her for everything she has done for him. Janna weakly says her goodbyes to her family and tells Rani it is time for her to become queen. Rani thinks she's not ready and Queen Janna says she is and she has everything she needs to help her. Rani starts to sob as Queen Janna passes away and Kion gives Rani his condolences. Rani expresses her gratitude to him while she's crying on his shoulder as Kion sheds a tear as well. Makini tells the animals of the Tree of Life the sad news soon enough. At the funeral, Rani is depressed and lonesome so Kion talks to her. Rani talks about her admiration for her grandmother and is worried she won't measure up to her. Kion encourages her and opens up about his own doubts when he started leading the Lion Guard. Kion tells her he has not talked to his grandfather Mufasa since he got his scar out of worry that he'll resemble Scar to Mufasa. Rani says we all have scars while she's showing him the scar on her fore paw while saying "sisi ni sawa" which is what her Grandmother said convinced Rani to let Kion into the Tree of Life which is a decision Rani is glad about right now. Rani tells Kion just talking to Mufasa might make him get better and Kion expresses his gratitude to her for the advice while he is telling Rani she's a lot like her Grandmother which leaves Rani taken back by the comparison. Kion decides to talk to his Grandfather and Mufasa admits he started to think Kion forgot about him. Kion opens up about how he was scared to face Mufasa again since he got his scar and was worried about losing his patience and losing control of the roar would make him evil like Scar. Mufasa consoles Kion he will always be there for him no matter what and Kion can always talk to him about his concerns and troubles, and the fact that will never change. Kion gets better after hearing that and says he'll never be afraid to face Mufasa again. Afterwards, he goes to Queen Rani's coranation and sings along to the song "Long Live the Queen".

Episode 26: Of the Same Pride

Kion talks to Mufasa and asks if he could give the roar back. He says Kion needs to give the roar to Askari, the first leader of the Lion Guard at Cikha Escarpment. Kion goes to talk to him and Askari says Kion is ready to learn all about the Roar. Makucha's army then strikes again at sunrise. With the Night Pride being tired, Kion and the Lion Guard come to help. Being calm and leading the Guard the army gets defeated. Nirmala saya that Kion's healing is completed. Fuli suggets about going back to the Pride Lands. Kion says that they need to stay and protect the Tree of Life in the day time and that's what they're going to do. Kion still thinks he can't use his Roar and asks Fuli to take charge for the day.

Kion then goes back to speak with Askari. He learns lots of new ways to use the Roar of the Elders as Askari teaches him The Power of the Roar. Rani and Bunga go to see Kion and see if he's alright. After seeing that the Roar is back, Bunga is excited and claps. Anga goes to find them and says that the bad guys are back...with reinforcements. Kion, Rani and Bunga go and follow Anga. While fighting Makcuha's army, Kion uses the Roar in many different ways. The finishing move was a big twister that blows all the bad guys far away, but not before he breaks the rock that was blocking the Tree of Life's entrance to free the rest of the Night Pride and Makini. Nirmala then states that Kion is finally healed. Rani asks if Kion and the Lion Guard would stay at the Tree of Life.

Kion speaks to Mufasa about his choice whether or not to go back to the Pride Lands and Mufasa tells Kion the choice is his alone. After Mufasa departs, Rani appears and asks Kion if he thought about what she said? Kion teases her about when she initially stated he would never be welcome at the Tree of Life and Rani says it's funny how things can change once you get to know someone. They both think that they make a great team and confess their feelings for each other singing Of the Same Pride.

Episode 31: Return to the Pridelands

Azaad comes and Fuli asks Rani how she knows him. She says that he's been to the Tree of Life before. Rani asks why he's here and Azaad says that he was showing travelers how to get to the Tree of Life. Kion's friends, Janja and Jasiri, come and tell the guard that Zira and her Pride have come into the Outlands. Kion knows that it's his duty to protect the Pride Lands from Zira and decides to head back. Makini chooses to stay since she's now Rani's Royal Mjuzi. Rani says goodbye to the Guard and tells Kion that she meant what she said and Rani hopes that maybe the Roar will return to the Tree of Life again someday. Kion asks Ono what the first moja kwa moja stone was he said it was a large lake. Anga spots the lake but Kion thinks it'll take a long time. Azaad soon shows them a path which Beshte couldn't fit in. Kion roars to make the path bigger for him to fit. They soon come across a ravine and Kion uses the roar to fly Bunga across the ravine. He also helps Jasiri, Janja, Beshte and himself across. Kion decides to knock down a dead tree and then he roars up a river. Everyone hops on the log and they ride it down the river. Kion continues using the roar in many different ways he can to quicken the journey to the Pride Lands.

While runing in the Outlands to get home Jasiri spots Madoa, Cheezi and Chungu. Kion asks what happened to Zira. Madoa says they're not sure since they were hiding. Mzingo and his vultures soon show up and are happy to see Jasiri home. Jasiri asks the vultures if they would help settle peace in the Pride Lands. They agree and goes with the Lion Guard. Anga soon spots a strange lion with dark fur on top of Pride Rock. Jasiri says that it's Kovu. Anga doesn't see Kion's family and soon Vitani and a group of lionesses stop them in their tracks, warning the "Outlanders" that they will not invade. Vitani barks out orders to Shabaha, Kasi, Imara and Tazama, to attack Kion and his friends. Vitani, prompting Kion to ready his roar. His friends gather behind him as he orders. Suddenly, he hears his sister Kiara calling out to him and is overjoyed to see her. However, when he notices Kovu sliding down the wall behind her, Kion calls for Kiara to get out of the way for her safety, but Kiara declines, blocking him from using the Roar against Vitani's Lion Guard or Kovu. She explains that Zira's Pride has joined theirs, and Vitani finally recognizes Kiara's little brother, although she admits it was hard to with his scar, and when he was surrounded by Outlanders. They learn that Zira has completed her journey through the Circle of Life, and Kiara offers to explain it all back on Pride Rock. After thanking Jasiri, they head home. When they arrive back at Pride Rock, Kion is reunited with his parents, and Azaad is given an introduction. Although curious about Makini's absence, Rafiki announces that Janna was right all along about Makini's true destiny at the Tree of Life. Before long, the subject of Zira is risen again, and Rafiki guides them to the lower section of Pride Rock where cave paintings detail the story. Rafiki, Kovu and Kiara explain how Kovu was raised to believe that Simba was the enemy. However, after getting to know them both, he and Kiara stood between the two prides when they engaged in a showdown, telling them that, as lions, (we) are one. Zira's lionesses, including Vitani, saw that this was true, and joined forces. Zira was unable to get past her hate, and thus it led to her destruction. After hearing all that they had missed, the Lion Guard learn that they were missed themselves, and reunions for all of them soon take place. That night, the royal family, including the new prince Kovu, smile towards Mufasa as he leaves their sight from the clouds. All but Kion return to the den, prompting Kiara to sit alongside her brother to see what's bothering him. She learns about Queen Rani and instantly detects her brother's sorrow. With Kion confessing that he misses her, Kiara suggests that maybe he could go back someday, and how she was sure that their parents would understand.

Episode 32: Battle of the Lion Guards

The Lion Guard decides to go into their lair, but the lair is occupied by Vitani's Lion Guard and they quarrel over who should be the Lion Guard? Suddenly, Laini rushes into the lair saying that there's an emergency which turns out to be Thurston getting the front part of his body stuck in a hole. Both Lion Guards quarrel over what to do and Azaad solves the problem by telling Thurston to just walk backwards and he's out of the hole instantly. Kion and Vitani know that this isn't working and they don't know how to decide who should be the Lion Guard? Thurston suggests that they decide the Zebra way and have a contest which they agree on.

Suddenly, Askari appears in the sky and tells Kion that he has truly mastered the roar by letting it go. Kion is perplexed about why he would still need the roar if he's not the leader of the Lion Guard anymore? Askari tells Kion there's another place that could use the roar's help and Kion realizes he's talking about the Tree of Life. The Mark of the Night Pride that was given to Kion by Queen Janna before her death appears on Kion's shoulder. Kion asks his friends if they want to help Queen Rani protect the Tree of life? All of the old Lion Guard members accept the offer and the Mark of the Night Pride replaces the Mark of the Guard on their bodies. Vitani wonders what Kion meant by mastering the roar and Kion shows her by using the roar to lift the entire Pride Rock off the ground and back down again.

Episode 33: Kion and Rani's Coronation

The Pride Lands' animals gather at the Tree of Life to see Kion's ascension to King of the Tree of Life (the ceremony also doubles as his wedding to Rani). Rani tells Kion she's happy the Roar has returned again and Kion affirms it's here to stay and they both tell each other they're looking forward to ruling the Tree of Life together. Makini puts the mark of the King on Kion's forehead and declares him King of the Tree of Life which causes the crowd to erupt in cheers. Kion tells Rani they'll make a great team and Rani responds that they already do. They both roar in the sky as their ancestors watch in satisfaction.

Episode 37: Kion and Rani's Cubs

Kion, relaxes at the River of Patience, watching logs float by. Rani, who was now a young adult walked up to Kion and asked him if he is enjoying relaxing at the River of Patience. He said that it reminded him when he first arrived to the Tree of Life, to get his scar (from Ushari's venomous bite) healed. Rani giggles, and said that she was surprised that she, at first, was enemies with him when they first met. Rani then announces to Kion that she was pregnant and was expecting a cub. Kion was surprised by this and then he was very excited, wondering what his cub would look like and what the gender was.

There is a time skip, until when King Kion, who now had a full mane, plays with his first born cub, Prince Raja, with Queen Rani watching from afar. Raja says his first word, "Dada", as he rolled onto his back. Rani then leaves Kion and Raja alone, as she must do a patrol around the Tree of Life's Sanctuary before it is sunrise. Rani then said that she will catch a fish for Kion to eat, while she is out.

Then there is another, timeskip with Kion, who was slightly older, with their second born cubs, Janya and Moto (they are twins.) Janya and Moto were playing tug the branch with each other, while a slightly older Raja walks up to them and boasts about becoming king of the Tree of Life. Kion then comments to Raja, that he must not make his younger siblings feel bad about themselves. The episodes ends with the whole family, watching falling stars on a hill, in the savannah area of the Tree of Life. This was the last time that Kion was seen in my Lion King Universe.

Trivia

-His name means "Leader" in Swahili (Kiongozi.) He was named the leader of the Lion Guard who rescued Nala's father, Mkali, who is now deceased.

-He was only a teenager when he married Rani and became king. That’s extremely young for someone to get married. (Don’t do this in real life!)

-Despite being third born, he became King before Kiara could become Queen of the Pridelands.
