Lyrics[]

Lebo M:
Nants ingonyama bagithi baba Here comes the lion, my people, the father (of our nation)

Ingonyama

Chant:
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala The royal lion wears his leopard spots
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se to kwa) The royal lion wears his leopard spots (Don't go to)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana) The royal lion wears his leopard spots (No)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se to kwa)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana)

Carmen Twillie:
From the day we arrive on the planet
And, blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It's the circle of life
(Balek' ingonyam'i ya gale'!) Run, the lion will attack!
And it moves us all
(Ingonyama nengwe wema!) The lion and the leopard, oh, what a sight!
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life

Ingonyama nengw' enamabala
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se to kwa)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se to kwa)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se to kwa)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se to kwa)

Ingonyama nengw' enamabala
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se to kwa)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se to kwa)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana)

It's the circle of life
(Balek' ingonyam'i ya gale'!)
And it moves us all
(Ingonyama nengwe wema!)
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life

I Just Can't Wait to Be King

Composed By Elton John
Performed By Rowan Atkinson
Jason Weaver
Laura Williams

I Just Can't Wait to Be King is a song composed by Elton John for The Lion King. It was released on May 31, 1994, as part of the film's soundtrack. It is sung by Simba, Nala, and Zazu as they argue over Simba's authoritative rights as the future king of the Pride Lands.

Lyrics[]

Simba:
I'm gonna be a mighty king
So, enemies, beware!

Zazu:
Well, I've never seen a king of beasts
With quite so little hair

Simba:
I'm gonna be the main event
Like no king was before
I'm brushin' up on lookin' down
I'm workin' on my roar!

Zazu:
Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing

Simba:
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!

Zazu:
You've rather a long way to go, young master
If you think...

Simba:
No one sayin', 'Do this!'

Zazu:
Now when I said that...

Nala:
No one sayin', 'Be there!'

Zazu:
What I meant was...

Simba:
No one sayin', 'Stop that!'

Zazu:
What you don't realize...

Simba and Nala:
No one sayin', 'See here!'

Zazu:
Now see here!

Simba:
Free to run around all day!

Zazu:
Well, that's definitely out.

Simba:
Free to do it all my way!

Zazu:
I think it's time that you and I
Arranged a heart-to-heart

Simba:
Kings don't need advice
From little hornbills for a start

Zazu:
If this is where the monarchy is headed
Count me out!
Out of service, out of Africa
I wouldn't hang about!
This child is getting wildly out of wing!

Simba:
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!

Everybody look left!
Everybody look right!
Everywhere you look I'm...
Standin' in the spotlight!

Zazu:
Not yet!

Chorus:
Let every creature go for broke and sing!
Let's hear it in the herd and on the wing!
It's gonna be King Simba's finest fling!

Simba:
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Oh, I just can't wait...
To be king!

The Lion King (1994) - Be Prepared

Song Title

Be Prepared

Composed By Elton John
Performed By Jeremy Irons (first half)
Jim Cummings (as both Ed and Scar in second half)
Whoopi Goldberg
Cheech Marin

Be Prepared is a song composed by Elton John for The Lion King. It was released on May 31, 1994, as part of the film's soundtrack. It is sung by Scar and the hyenas in anticipation of Mufasa's death.

Lyrics[]

Scar:
I know that your powers of retention
Are as wet as a warthog's backside
But thick as you are, pay attention!
My words are a matter of pride

It's clear from your vacant expressions
The lights are not all on upstairs
But we're talking kings and successions
Even you can't be caught unawares!

So prepare for the chance of a lifetime
Be prepared for sensational news
A shining new era
Is tiptoeing nearer

Shenzi:
And where do we feature?

Scar:
Just listen to teacher
I know it sounds sordid
But you'll be rewarded
When at last I am given my dues
And injustice deliciously squared
Be prepared!

Banzai (spoken):
Yeah! Be prepared!
Yeah-heh! We'll be prepared! Heh!
For what?

Scar (spoken):
For the death of the king.

Banzai (spoken):
Why? Is he sick?

Scar (spoken):
No, fool. We're gonna kill him.
And Simba, too.

Shenzi (spoken):
Great idea!
Who needs a king?

Banzai and Shenzi (spoken):
No king! No king!
La, la, la, la, la, la!

Scar (spoken):
Idiots!
There will be a king!

Banzai (spoken):
Hey, but you said-

Scar (spoken):
I will be king!
Stick with me, and you'll never go hungry again!

Banzai and Shenzi (spoken):
Yay! All right! All right!
Long live the king!

Hyenas (spoken):
Long live the king!
Long live the king!

Hyenas:
It's great that we'll soon be connected
With a king who'll be all-time adored

Scar:
Of course, quid pro quo, you're expected
To take certain duties on board
The future is littered with prizes
And though I'm the main addressee
The point that I must emphasize is
You won't get a sniff without me!

So prepare for the coup of the century
Be prepared for the murkiest scam
Meticulous planning

Hyenas:
(We'll have food!)

Scar:
Tenacity spanning

Hyenas:
(Lots of food!)

Scar:
Decades of denial

Hyenas:
(We repeat!)

Scar:
Is simply why I'll

Hyenas:
(Endless meat!)

Scar:
Be king undisputed
Respected, saluted
And seen for the wonder I am!
Yes, my teeth and ambitions are bared

Be prepared!

Hyenas:
Yes, our teeth and ambitions are bared

Hyenas and Scar:
Be prepared!

Timon:
Why, when he was a young warthog

Pumbaa:
When I was a young warthog!

Timon (spoken):
Very nice.

Pumbaa (spoken):
Thanks!

Timon:
He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal
He could clear the savanna after every meal

Pumbaa:
I'm a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned
And it hurt, that my friends never stood downwind!
And, oh, the shame!

Timon:
He was ashamed!

Pumbaa:
Thought of changin' my name!

Timon:
Oh, what's in a name?

Pumbaa:
And I got downhearted!

Timon:
How did you feel?

Pumbaa:
Every time that I-

Timon: (spoken)
Hey, Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids.

Pumbaa: (spoken)
Oh, sorry.

Timon and Pumbaa:
Hakuna Matata
What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata
Ain't no passing craze!

Simba:
It means no worries
For the rest of your days

Yeah, sing it, kid!

Simba and Timon:
It's our problem-free...

Pumbaa:
Philosophy...

Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba:
Hakuna Matata!

Timon and Pumbaa:
Hakuna! Matata!
Hakuna! Matata!
Hakuna! Matata!
Hakuna!

Simba:
It means no worries
For the rest of your days

Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba:
It's our problem-free
Philosophy

Timon:
Hakuna Matata

Pumbaa:
Hakuna! Matata!
Hakuna! Matata!
Hakuna! Matata!
Hakuna! Matata!

Simba:
Hakuna Matata!

Timon:
Hakuna Matata!

Simba:
Hakuna Matata!

Timon:
Hakuna Matata!

Pumbaa:
Ooh-ooh-ooh!

Timon:
Hakuna Matata!

Simba:
Hakuna Matata!
Hakuna Matata!
Yeah!

Timon:
Matata! Matata!
Ha, ha, ha!

Can You Feel the Love Tonight is a song composed by Elton John for The Lion King. It was released on May 31, 1994, as part of the film's soundtrack. In the film, it is heard after a full-grown Nala reunites with her childhood friend, Simba, in the jungle. The two embark on a romantic evening and find that their friendship has blossomed into love.

Lyrics[]

Timon:
I can see what's happening

Pumbaa (spoken):
What?

Timon:
And they don't have a clue

Pumbaa (spoken):
Who?

Timon:
They'll fall in love, and here's the bottom line
Our trio's down to two

Pumbaa (spoken):
Oh.

Timon:
Ze sweet caress of twilight
There's magic everywhere
And with all this romantic atmosphere
Disaster's in the air

Chorus:
Can you feel the love tonight?
(Lalela thuli) Listen to this quiet person.
The peace the evening brings
(Lalela thuli)
The world, for once, in perfect harmony
(Lalela thuli)
With all its living things
(Lalela lelando/lelandu we) Hey, listen to this history!

Simba:
So many things to tell her
But how to make her see
The truth about my past? Impossible!
She'd turn away from me

Nala:
He's holding back, he's hiding
But what? I can't decide
Why won't he be the king I know he is
The king I see inside?

Chorus:
Can you feel the love tonight?
(Lalela thuli)
The peace the evening brings
(Lalela thuli)
The world, for once, in perfect harmony
(Lalela thuli)
With all its living things
(Lalela lelando/lelandu we)

Can you feel the love tonight?
(Lalela thuli)
You needn't look too far
(Lalela thuli)
Stealing through the night's uncertainties
Love is where they are

Timon:
And if he falls in love tonight
It can be assumed...

Pumbaa:
His carefree days with us are history

Timon and Pumbaa:
In short, our pal is doomed
