Ajabu is shy and skittish. He is also kind and friendly, and has many stories to tell to those he trusts.

Above all, Ajabu desires a peaceful life and is willing to go to great lengths to escape trouble.

One of the most popular animals in the Pride Lands, Beshte has a kind-hearted nature that never seems to run dry. His friendliness extends to everyone, as he acts like a big brother to the younger members of his pod, a friend to animals of all different species, and a protector of the Pride Lands at large.

When it comes to the Lion Guard, Beshte is willing to do the hard work. His bravery is undeniable as he charges headfirst into battle, following Kion's orders without question. Though his nature is one of compassion and gentleness, he can be a force to contend with and will not stand for the Circle of Life being thrown out of balance. Beshte's principles are important to him, and he will fight tooth and nail to do what is right.

For all his good qualities, Beshte does have a flaw or two. He is very friendly, likes to socialize and be helpful, and this has actually caused problems for him (and others), such as when he shot the breeze with Mbeya when he was supposed to be asking for directions, and when he got distracted helping smaller animals when he was supposed to be making the Hippo Lanes.

Unlike his rule-following best friend Kion, Bunga is a free spirit with an adventurous streak and an affinity for games.

Very rarely does Bunga act serious or even sit still, for he is always on the move, working off boundless energy and enthusiasm, and makes even the most dire of situations into a fantastic time. Though this makes him a great friend and playmate, it lands him into trouble more often than not.

Despite these more negative quirks, Bunga is valued for his bravery, a trait he has in plenty. Not only is he willing to put himself in bodily harm, such as his stunt in leaping off Pride Rock, but he will face down predators such as the hyenas in order to save his friends. As Kiara puts it, he is "brave, bordering on stupid," but a valued member of the Lion Guard nonetheless. He is also very friendly and kind.

He possesses a pale golden pelt, broken only by patches of lighter fur on his muzzle, paws, and underbelly.

He has a bright red head tuft. His tail tuft matches his head tuft in color, being somewhat bushier than his father's. He also sports ear rims, and orange-brown eyes.

Kion bears spots on the backs of his legs, and the Mark of the Lion Guard on his left shoulder.

Later, Kion gains a scar over his left eye, inflicted by Ushari. When he becomes the King of the Tree of Life, he gains a ceremonial painted blue stripe on his forehead.

Personality []

Kion is a stickler for the rules. Even in the face of temptation, as seen when his baobab ball is lost in the Outlands, he heeds the words of his parents and intelligently recognizes the signs of potential danger.

This strong sense of responsibility is in part why Kion has such a sturdy head on his shoulders and is much less likely to jump into dangerous situations than his best friend, Bunga.

However, despite this more accountable side, Kion still enjoys a good tussle with his friends. He can be careless when it comes to games, as seen when he disrespects his father and sister during their morning lesson with his game of Baobab Ball. Though mature in aspects of obedience and rule-following, Kion is still young and is less confident when dealing with more adult concepts, such as romance.

Though not entirely well-versed in the adult sphere, Kion is strong-willed and able to trust his instincts, which is in part due to the gentle guidance of his grandfather, Mufasa. Undoubtedly, he is a cub who follows his heart, even in matters where those he loves oppose him, and is willing to follow the call of duty over pleasing family and friends.

In his adolescence, Kion grows more mature. He is willing to give Janja a chance when the latter reforms and is quick to forgive him and his clan, having learned from his earlier experience with Makuu. This helps Kion not to give into his anger, even allowing him to forgive Scar.

Kion's one and only main fear is that he will give in to his anger and use the Roar for evil, thereby turning him into a power-hungry lion like his great-uncle, Scar.

His fear intensifies after he receives a scar of his own, and is poisoned by Ushari's venom. This causes him to constantly lose his temper and control of his Roar. His fear increases to the point that he loses confidence in leading the Guard without his Roar.

A shared sense of doubt and uncertainty regarding their positions as leaders, and their respective abilities to lead led to Rani and Kion finding a connection, causing them to fall in love.

Following his exposure to the volcanic vog in the final battle against Scar, Ono loses much of his eyesight, with his vision becoming hazy. Later, Queen Janna heals his eyesight.

Personality[]

Despite his sharp social skills and optimism, Ono is exceptionally blunt and unequivocal, so he is able to lay out his feelings without sugar-coating.

In the face of a difficult battle, he shows more reservation than the others, admitting his own misgivings about the fight. In addition, he has a dry sense of humor, which he also employs with little reserve.

Ono is by far the most down-to-earth, realistic member of the Lion Guard, always thinking things through before jumping in. Perhaps this is in part because of his ability to step back and assess before taking action. His intellect is sharp, and unlike some members of his team, he has the cleverness and patience to act on it.

When it comes to his role on the Lion Guard, Ono is brave and has a knack for following the rules. He obeys Kion's orders without question and proves himself to be plucky and thrifty, considerably useful when it comes to scouting out a situation. His principles are clear in his willingness to fight with his full heart for the Circle of Life, and he is a valued member of the Lion Guard for his intelligence.
