Bukali arrives in the Pride Lands as part of the Back Lands delegation in order to hear urgent news from Simba, who wishes to have them escorted to Pride Rock. Kion and the Lion Guard take them to Pride Rock, and Simba leads then inside the den to discuss. Unbeknownst to them, Shupavu and Njano have reported their presence to Scar, who deems the news interesting. After Simba confesses that Scar has returned, the delegations are shocked and share glances with one another. Bukali flies up to Chifu in the Back Lands, and he asks if she'd like to share what she learned. She nods, explaining that Kion and Rafiki found a marking at Mapango Cliffs, and skeptical, Okereke inquires as to what kind of mark. Bukali reveals that Scar has returned as a spirit and plans on destroying the kingdoms, and Chifu thanks her for the news, wishing to train for battle. Glancing at Bukali, Mozari questions if she can train the birds of the Back Lands, which she agrees to. When Scar commences his war on the Pride Lands, Bukali is one of the many animals gathered at the base of Pride Rock. Shortly after, Bukali is one of the many birds in Hadithi's bird army that attacks Reth's Pride at Rocky Plateau.
