Legends of the Lion Guard: The Dark Prophecy[]
As she leads the Lion Guard on a tour of Ciso River, Rani mentions how Berenike and Bahan discovered the Tree of Life and its ability to heal. Later, Janna and Kenene tell the tale of how the Tree of Life was founded. Long ago, Berenike and Bahan traveled across the savannah for a place to raise Janna, soon encounting the Mountain Pass, where they would sleep for the night. A Great Lion of the Past met with Bahan in her dream, mentioning a safe haven, and intrigued, she and Berenike searched for it. Eventually, they reached the Tree of Life, establishing themselves as its rulers and the Night Pride. The Spirits also foretold of the Tree's healing powers, worthy only to those qualified to possess it. Soon, Salamu would come to the Tree of Life, her arrival being prophesied to Bahan, and her medical knowledge would be passed down from generation to generation.
Later, Janna tells the story of when Askari put out a fire at the Tree of Life. She clears her throat, explaining that long ago, an unusually hot dry season plagued the Tree of Life when Askari was practicing the Roar of the Elders. Bahan and Berenike had only just discovered the territory and were at a loss, and despite their efforts, residents were discontented and fought for the remaining resources. To add insult to injury, Salamu's herb supply had greatly diminished, and with little herbs to heal the sick and injured, animals succumbed to the drought and died. One day, as the Tree teetered toward the brink of extinction, the majordomo at the time reported lightning in the distance, which meant that rain would finally come and end the drought. However, the animals were proven wrong when the lightning arrived and instead struck the Tree of Life, setting it ablaze. The majordomo told Bahan and Berenike that they had heard roaring coming from an escarpment not far away, and believing that the strange lion there could help, the king and queen set off to find him.
Upon meeting him, they instantly begged for his help, and without hesitation, he followed them to the Tree of Life. Askari then positioned himself on a rock and unleashed the Roar of the Elders, summoning a raincloud that would deploy much-needed rain, extinguishing the fire and saving the Tree. Bahan and Berenike thanked Askari, encouraging him to stay for as long as he wanted, and since that day, his heroics were detailed in cave paintings left behind by Salamu - forever cementing him as a legend.
