Aste is a male Masai giraffe and a Drylander.
Appearance[]
Despite the sharpness of his features, Aste is a very sturdy and robust animal. His back almost appears to be perfectly even, so unpronounced are his shoulders. His long neck is extremely thin in comparison, giving the rather queer appearance that the neck and head of a starving giraffe were placed on top of the elephantine body of a dominant male. His build causes him to move rather slowly. His coat is a pale, yellowish tan, with lighter areas on his underbelly and the sides of his face. It is covered with very dark brown spots, quite close to being black. The hair on his legs fades in color towards his wide, thick black hooves, including his spots. He has tiny green eyes the color of acacia leaves, with yellow sclerae.
Personality[]
Aste is kind enough for a giraffe, though he centers almost all of his positive attention on his young and females he is trying to impress. He can be somewhat quiet and reserved around others, especially males who might be interested in a female giraffe that Aste is infatuated with. When this occurs, he displays his aggressive streak, fiercely shoving and striking his opponent with his neck. He is somewhat intelligent, especially when he has time to think quietly. He has a very good memory and is quite intelligent, despite what conclusions those who do not know him well might draw. Though he does not show it, he is quite a proud animal.
History[]
Early Life[]
Aste was born and raised in the Drylands. He eventually was able to charm a female from the same herd he had lived with his mother as a calf. Mgunga was impressed by him, and they fell in love and produced Choka. However, Aste never got to see his son grow up, and he was eaten by members of the Moyo Hodari Pride shortly after Choka's birth.
