Asante is a female spotted hyena that resides in the Pride Lands. She is the daughter of Kubariki and Mlinzi, the sister of Jasiri and Madoa, and a member of Kubariki's Clan.
She is a supporting character in Legends of the Lion Guard.
Appearance[]
Asante's pelt is gray, while her muzzle is a darker gray, and her underbelly is light brown. Her legs are a dark shade of gray that is almost black, and her spots are a gray that almost blends into her pelt. Asante also has dark brown-gray ears and a two-tone pink-gray mane and tail, with the lighter color present under the darker color. Her eyes are light violet, and her left ear has a notch in it. Her cheeks are also ruffled; she has a black nose and a protruding canine tooth.
Personality[]
Asante is good-natured, kind in spirit, and exceptionally smart. She is sarcastic and spunky, unaffected by caste. She is not too deep the thinker and rather views life from a very open-minded perspective. In more serious situations, Asante is known to show bravery and maturity beyond her years. Even in everyday life, she displays a high level of understanding. When faced with a tough choice, she is prone to at first turn away, but when given the chance to reconsider, she usually overcomes her fears and takes the challenge.

The Rogue Hyena[]
Jasiri, Madoa, and Asante play hide and seek with Tunu and Wema before they are interrupted by Shinda and Shinuni's report of a distressed animal in the Outlands. As Kubariki's Clan approaches a set of cliffs in the Outlands, Asante asks Mlinzi if he has enough herbs to treat the animal, though he is uncertain, citing that he can't determine what he needs until he sees the injury. When they find the animal, a striped hyena who is badly injured, Asante and Madoa express concern for Jasiri and stand beside her, with Asante asking the hyena what his name is, but he demands a reason as to why he should trust them. After he calms down and agrees to let the clan help him, Asante and Madoa steady him as he is helped onto the backs of Mlinzi, Shinda, and Shinuni. One week later, Kubariki's Clan watches the hyena, remembering his name to be Shalo, prepare to leave. Tunu and Wema bid him slightly improper farewells, earning them a scolding from Asante, who rolls her eyes and apologizes to Shalo for their behavior.

Wildfire Emergency[]
Asante and her clan are caught in a massive wildfire at Chakula Plains; the Lion Guard arrives to put it out. She and the other hyenas help extinguish the blaze and also help to put out the fires at Mbali Fields later on. When Mlinzi requests to help the injured, Asante points out that he's injured, but he doesn't care, insisting he's fine.

Asante is now an adult. She is among the Pride Landers gathered at Pride Rock when Simba announces the return of Scar. When Scar commences his war on the Pride Lands, Asante is one of the many animals gathered at the base of Pride Rock. Later, Asante participates in the final battle for the Pride Lands.
